Usually it takes more than 6 or so months to RND a new console. So my bet is that sighax/boot9strap will still work on 2ds. All that would be needed is a hardmod guide for it if that's the case (probably launching with 11.4 firmware)

You can(shouldn't) use Dereks Sighax installer and it just has you rename the boot.firm file and then it installs that onto ur NAND. They use the same exploit Sighax and Boot9Strap are just different implementations.

Derek's sighax installer and d0k3's SafeB9SInstaller are both sighax installers. They both can be used to install B9S.

You should definitely just follow the guide so you don't brick. But B9S is a sighaxed firm. Sighax is the exploit. They are two distinct concepts, though in common use they'll both likely refer to the same shit.

Edit: To explain, NTR hax would allow us to use certain DS flash cards to install b9s. Or so I've heard. Nothing definite yet.

Nope. More like ntrboothax as this one will give you bootrom access, not just arm9 access. Which means even a FIRM (firm0/firm1) brick should be recoverable.

That has nothing to do with sighax, ntrcardhax is an ARM9 exploit on 10.3 and below using a DS cart. Obsolete now, obviously.

Similar, but not quite the same. ntrcardhax was a buffer overflow in the HOME Menu's NTR header parser.

The NTR BootROM backdoor is a legitimate thing set up for repair purposes, but it can be reused to load custom FIRMs because of SigHax. All that's needed is a DS flash cart that can be fully reprogrammed to support a custom header and payload without having to use a boot menu.

When people refer to NTRCardHax in this thread they are referring to the possibility of adapting this exploit to install Boot9Strap.

Actually they are referring to ntrboothax, which is technically a different exploit all together.

Okay, so after installing derricks sighax, and getting a black screen, and putting a boot.firm in the root of my SD, it's still black. I noticed I have sighax backup firm files Though

No, you can downgrade on 11.2 (the latest version MenuHax is compatible with).
Just use SafeHax.
