First, smack the 9 year old.

Then, you can remove the UMD drive to save battery power and hack it.

Even if it's not hackable, he nine year old should still be smacked.

REMOVE the UMD drive? As in, take it out completely? Does that really have any effect?

It saves battery power as none of it is routed to the drive. Less is consumed and therefore it lasts a bit longer.

Yeah, I figured that out, but how much battery power does it add on average (: is it really worth the hassle?)? If it saves more than half an hour, I might consider doing it as I have finally finished all UMD games I have and I don't think I'll replay any of them, if the need ever comes I could just download the games and use the save files, no?

I'd say it's worth it, if only to make it lighter. I'm not sure if it's a significant increase, as I don't even own a PSP, but why would it be one of the top PSP modifications?

Just to clear it up, what model PSP is it?

It's a PSP-1000. I'll have a look around to see what the advantages and disadvantages of it are. If it makes it that much lighter, I'd be delighted. The thing is so heavy, my netbook weighs only 100 grammes more.

Depends on if it is worth it to you. If it is go for it. To me it wouldn't be worth it. I don't like broken electronics unless I can buy them for cheap and fix them myself. On another note the 9 yr old should be taught to respect others toys and not to break them! Then again most people don't ever really learn that lesson until they have to start buying stuff themselves!

*cough* Could go into the PSP section *cough*

Is smacking the kid really as far as you'll go? Give him a light/medium thump.

Maybe you might be able to get it from him cheaper. I got a fully working 1000 for £40.

It's a psp 2000 slim. You guys were talking about removing the UMD drive...how much would be the cost to just remove the UMD drive, buy a UMD drive, and replace it myself? can I do that? I relize that it might not fix it because it might not be the UMD drive that is broken. is it still worth it to just replace the UMD drive?

yep, he needs to be smacked. get this instead of having to give up his psp he only has to pay $50.00. If it was me I'd at least make him remember it and make him save up for a few months to repay it!

Just curious how much memory does each game take? I mean in at the least and most?

$89.00 and still not guaranteed? Fuck that, it should work on a no fix no fee basis.

At least, a full PSP game could take around 100-200mb, but at the most it could take around 1.5gb.

If you manage to hack it, you should definitely buy it. I haven't used my UMD drive for some years now. [IMG]

    So, wait a second.

I actually had a good answer to a question rather than trolling a topic?!

You knew it was a good answer and you are now trying to troll us by saying that. Obvious troll is obvious, I suppose.
