1000kbps is pretty insane. Unless you're gonna watch that fullscreen on a big TV or monitor, that's more than you need...around 500kbps works fine for me, on the DS, with DPG.

It's the default I have it set to for encoding things for my TV, but it really isn't that high. Some people I know use 2000kbps.

Well the bad quilitys of Heroes which are MP4 are ussally 65Mb to 80Mb. The good quality videos of Heroes are 150-230Mb. And I don't download the bad quality videos.

well if you like the card, just buy it

My thoughts of getting it was like 10%/100%. Now I see a GBA emulator on it my thoughts went up and its 25%/100
that's only 25% then dont; buy it...

The iplayer turns your DS into the only handheld device that can play just about any video media without encoding. Just for that reason it's worth the price.

Hey my Samsung Omnia can do that too

. BTT: I'm not sure what all the fuzz with encoding to .dpg is. It only takes a few minutes for me with batchdpg and looks nice. The fact that the Iplayer now doesn't seem to do what it promised to makes it useless to me. But since it's not that expensive people who are to lazy to encode to dpg might wanna get it. But then I am sure there are still containers or resolutions you have to change for it to work on the card smoothly which makes it obsolete again.

Well, I find that, if you're watching an action-packed video, the DS runs into some pretty serious buffering issues sometimes. It often just freezes the video entirely for a few seconds. But even so, I'd still probably want to convert videos before watching them even on the iPlayer...unconverted videos are too big. When I convert anime to watch, the files size can often be cut down by about half. Either way, I don't think DPG is the most efficient file type...

God no, don't get the iPlayer. Your iPod video should do just fine, it's at least 30 gigs. Use SUPERÂ to convert your videos, and put them in iTunes. If you want them in playlists, that should be fine. If you have space troubles, then on the screen in iTunes that pops up when you plug in your iPod, check "Sync only checked songs and videos." Uncheck anything you don't want on your iPod. Anyways, good luck, but don't get the iPlayer.

I just ordered one from DX for the following reasons...

* My laptop is really slow/old and I cant be bothered converting video... it is a long and tedious process and I have little HD space

* I hate carrying around 2 or 3 gadgets for different things... (and keeping them all charged...)

* I like the idea of playing AVIs on my DS

* I like to watch downloaded lectures on my long train rides

* For $35 including free shipping, I'd rather just buy it and make my own decision about it...

Well, there's always the matter of space on your SD card. Unconverted videos tend to be over twice the size as the smaller, converted ones.

What is going on with the iPlayer and the release of the new Firmware 1.4 that just came out. I really was about to buy the iPlayer but then just found out about this Firmware 1.4. The online retailer "Two Shots" has a warning, even. Will the iPlayer work on DSi with Firmware 1.4?

Nope, it doesn't...and we don't even know if it's possible to update it yet. If not, the iPlayer team and anybody who bought one for use on a DSi are screwed.

Thanks. I can't believe that. From great product to useless? In a couple weeks? Nintendo should just buy the iPlayer company...
