Hardware shite GC controller won't work on Wii console

so I DL mario kart 64 asap this morning. got 3 friends together and plugged in my GC controllers. well 3 worked (official) but 1 controller (crap 3rd party 'pro' GC from blockbuster for $4.99) will not work on the wii. not in any game or even in gamecube mode. it does work in my actual gamecube though. so is nintendo locking out unofficial accessories in the wii? everybody else try your non-nintendo GC controllers with the wii and let me know

First the Freeloader / AR, now 3rd party hardware. If this is true, Nintendo is being an asshole about unnofficial stuff.

I dont understand how the Wii would even KNOW it wasn't official, maybe if the controller utilized a method of interfacing that was significantly different from the stock ones, then atleast they could claim a compatibility issue or just say they don't support it anymore. But that is strange.

Weird, my Big Ben controller just works as good as the official on my wii...
