Hold power button for 15 seconds and then leave it on charge for at least 3 hours. It may be about RCM draining battery.

I tried the 3 hour method, didnt work. My switch was in autorcm when it bricked

After 3 hours did you try powering it on and connecting it to PC to see if RCM works again?

..I could buy a house.

None on the market, & the brick shortage is delaying construction.
You could always move to the outer suburbs, I mean youl find a place, but the bricks wear out quickly.
Its almost like they were never their.

This also happened to me a lot of times and it's not only Ubuntu related.
I have a solution and it works all the time.

First, make sure your switch have some battery left.
Leave it for some hours to the dock just to be sure.

Second, make sure your switch is really turned off.
Press the power button and hold it at least for 30 seconds. (the second part maybe is not necessary, but do it anyway)

Now, open the TegraRcmSmash and after that, connect your switch to your pc.

And for the last part, what you must do, is hold the power button down at least for 15 seconds and immediately(do it as fast you can)release and press again the power button twice, on the second pressing, hold the power button down till your switch is back to live.
You are welcome :)
