Safe_mode is the recovery mode of the 3DS, firm protection needs to set up for that too just so updating via recovery mode doesn't remove a9lh on a o3ds or brick a n3ds

Normally people shouldn't really be using safe_mode once they have a9lh anyway as they can just use decrypt9 to restore a nand backup manually

It blocks safe mode if an attempt is made to launch it.

You know the system restore thing that pops up when you hold L+R+Up+A while booting? SAFE_MODE is that. It'll basically allow you to restore without losing ShadowNAND.

Hi Shadowhand,

got a little problem with one old 3ds.
I have setup Shadownand to an o3ds and a n3ds. All fine.
Now my last o3ds shows only black screen (with luma or w/o SD).
I can access some payloads (EDIT: when i put them as /homebrew/3ds/boot.bin) but cant get into sysnand.
On all 3ds were v1 of a9lh installed and worked fine.

Ideas how to fix it?

Edit2: Its also the only 3ds with SysNand 9.2 and Emunand 11.0. Maybe because of that?
The others had updatedsysnand 11.0

FinalEdit: Error found. I flashed the firmware90.cia that was linked inside the Luma3ds wiki and now it does the job.

@Shadowhand Sweet, so many awesome features planned for ShadowNAND! While the current ones are well worth switching from a v2 a9lh fork. Also love the full luma support; now I can choose when to boot with a splash screen with dpadleft. Thanks again for this.

You know how it boots from /homebrew/3ds/boot.bin? That path will change, most likely to /3ds/boot.bin

Try get a legit US secureinfo_a file, if your using a hex edited file then the signatures are broken and it will not boot in sd less shadownand

Tried using one of my own legit Secureinfo_A but still not booting on region changed o3ds. This workaround doesn't work. Anyways, I'm patiently waiting for the support. Thanks a lot Shadowhand.

I think you're missing the point, no mater what cfw you use, if your 3ds is region changed, boot without sd card is impossible. Eshop access is a completely different matter.

Well i have a pokémon Y european cartridge and i can play it on my American shadowNAND + SaltFW 3dsXL with no issues
and i have an american New Super Mario Brothers 2 cartridge and i can play it on my European shadowNAND + SaltFW 2DS with no issues too.

Without doing nothing, just the default CFW setup o_o

They are? but i tried to insert my american New Super Mario Brothers 2 cartridge on my European 2DS before the shadowNAND + SaltFW setup and it showed that nothing was inserted in the slot, now it runs 100% fine
