@Shadowhand are you actually working at this project? Didn't saw a release for a while and was curious.
Btw: Great work :)
Here's your answer:

I'm still working on it, but the main waiting point is the paths. There's no pattern or a decided-path right now, and I don't want to change it a fourth time. So I'm waiting before anything is decided.

Using ShadowNAND Installer 1.2, I installed ShadowNAND 0.85, and while it can successfully load /homebrew/3ds/boot.bin and /homebrew/3ds/bootmgr.bin, I can't get it to run without the SD card; it hangs on a black screen with the power light on. If I hold "down" without the SD card, I get the "Couldn't find the payload" message, but that's the only thing I can get it to do without the SD.

I am trying it on an original old 3DS with sysnand 11.0.0-33U, with a hard mod.

Any ideas as to what could be causing this, or how to fix it?

[Edit] I'm about to try it out on my New 3DS (which doesn't have a hard mod), since even without booting without an SD, it appears to be stable enough for normal use. Good work!

[Edit 2] I fixed the issue on my Old 3DS by downgrading the NATIVE_FIRM to 10.4, linked to in the Luma 3DS wiki, like someone else did earlier in this thread. Perhaps this should be added as a FAQ?

It worked on my New 3DS without any hassle. I don't know if I did anything special with its NATIVE_FIRM.

That is weird. I'm using 11.0 NFIRM and it works just fine. Was your device downgraded with Gateway ever before?

I got it working perfectly with two 2DSes with 11.0 native firm, one of which uses rxTool's FBI inject, and on a new 3DS. What version of arm9loaderhax did you upgrade from? Mine came from 2.x.

It was, but I restored a NAND backup since then, so I think that's a net "no".

It was A9LH 2 no screen init, and I don't remember which specific fork/version. I would doubt this is the issue since ShadowNand Installer should have overwritten it, and since it was the same version I was using on my New 3DS. I think that weirdness with the system itself is more likely.

It might work if you patched it with a CIA.
AGB_Firm patched GBA games are GBA games that patched then made into a CIA format, even after using the AGB_firm patch CIA you need a CFW capable of using it, I had a patched AGB_firm and reinand or Luma3DS couldn't run them , just a black screen, but after using Alex's Luma3DS nightlies it started working.

@Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.

They probably said "Hey, why not we combine the two together and make a 'new' DS to sell".

It's a DS Lite in a slightly bigger DS Lite shell.

Nothing special about it other than it's more comfortable than the Lite

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.
  • AncientBoi @ AncientBoi:
    I don't pirate them, I Use Them :mellow:. Like I do @BigOnYa 's couch :tpi::evil::rofl2:

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
