Yeah, he seems to work a lot on exploits (I've talked to him).

What good homebrew can I get out of a Wii U exploit though that I can't get on a Wii other than Caffiine?

I mean, it's exciting and all but if Wii U homebrew is same as how it is on the Wii...

There's basically nothing besides modding already-existing games. I do remember of a pong demo released, but I'm not sure where that is.

I've requested that the patreon account gets closed. Problems came up with it. No use in advertising it, though I appreciate it.
You had to of known I was gonna make a thread once I saw it was removed. Honestly I worry more about some of your team being from the US and when money is made by hackers rewards for their personal info are placed so lawsuits can happen. I also think there are legal consequences for anti piracy defeating methods. (which is what you are doing just by allowing memory to be transferred from wii u to pc because it is part of a copy protected software not owned by you) Once you obtain those funds and they nail you don't you think they'll lower your punishment by getting you to roll on your buddy? You know I am right and by simply adding your info to that crowd funding Nintendo's legal team can now subpoena that site for all that accounts information since you already broke the EULA agreement. Hold on everyone Mathew-wi will have a C/D letter soon.

And bully at wii plaza: old news from the wii days? You mean like how you took other peoples made codes and changed bytes and called them your own? Or how you take other people's programs change two things and call those your own?
Who's the leech here? Why haven't you put up money if you are currently using an exploit mathew-wi had a hand in writing? <<<<Bully leeching again.
I put up no money because I already have control of IOS. And have no need for a webkit/kernel exploit.

HOLY SH*T WHY DO YOU CARE! If you don't support his patreon then DON'T F*CKING FUND IT. Otherwise just let him do what he wants! If he delivers, GREAT, he's gotten compensated for doing something he enjoys! If not, then people got scammed. They can deal with it how they want. Fortunately it wasn't you though because you didn't donate in the first place -_- Stop trying to sound all "holier than thou"

I don't see why you're complaining at all, he didn't make any profit, he noticed he wasn't necessary, and took it down. There. Problem solved.

But for you? Noo, you have to jump into these "situations" that are utter madness that relate to literally nothing, and then randomly turn on another user?
Seriously?

Your hypocrisy knows no bounds. I've PMed you so we don't have to spam GBATemp anymore. You've clearly got some issues to work out, so let's work them out privately.

I'll be glad to support him! :)
It goes against the whole point of homebrew: free software. He wanted to be paid full time to work on homebrew. Work for a software development company if you want to get paid.

He is one of three people I've ever known to demand money for homebrew, but I'm not going to mention names. I've received a few donations in the past, but every penny of it went toward developing more free software for people. A good example is when certain hardware didn't work with Nintendont. I had to buy it so I could expand compatibility. I also make it very clear that you should never feel like donations are the only way to get updates. I, like almost every homebrew developer out there, do it for the community, not to fill my wallet.

That being said, I won't try to prevent it. I just wanted to state my feelings and be done.

He's just saying he doesn't have the time to fully commit to it because he needs to make X amount to keep living, if people gave him X amount he promises to work full time on the thing they want.

It seems very fair.

its not exactly a new concept, if you want people to put all their time and effort into something then you can donate to the cause, if you want to get everything free you just keep your gob shut and hope that the generosity of others pays off for you, if it would have been "i have this made and i want $15 off everyone who wants to use it" sure thing be a bit upset (but its still their work they can do as they please legalities or not thats not down to you to decide)....but the simple fact was it was a open offer, nobody was obligated to pay, but if you wanted it done faster you could have helped it happen its just stupid to think he would just turn down a paid job to commit to something full time for a bunch of ungrateful sods who complain that he isn't doing it fast enough while they do bugger all to help and he gets zero in return for his time (infact he would be loosing his income he could have had for doing a proper job)......and people wonder why DRM dongles etc prevail and devs have a low regard for end users

see here is an example of this exact same concept paying off, people got what they wanted sooner and people who cant afford a few bucks to help got it for free anyway...everyone wins

that said i can understand people being hesitant of such things with the whole 3DS decapping scheme and i would certainly think twice before donating to such causes as the 3DS decapping scam was "endorsed" by some of the top scene devs so you can never be too careful with these things if you do donate you also have to be prepared for it to turn out to be a scam and for the person to just do a runner with the money so no big donations that you would feel extremely bad about should the worst happen

Not really, he expressed that 5.5 and 5.4 would be released regardless this campaing, he just ask (not demanded) support to get things quicker out the oven. I fail to see how that is a bad thing, when many people as me are stuck on 5.5 or 5.4
