So i switched my internet speed and so far my download speeds suck. Im a premium member on megaupload and they download at 20 kbps, but if i go on youtube at the same time, the youtube video loads very quick. so in other words i can browse quickly, but i cant seem to download good. same with all other websites, the downloading rate is horrible! but it seems to surf at full speed just fine. i tried switching my modem twice, and thats not the problem.

I don't think you get it.
You're downloading content as you browse the internet. It's the same with watching Youtube videos.
Mind doing a speedtest for me? What's the maximum download/upload speed of your connection?

It could be a number of different factors.
You might not be close to a Megaupload server resulting in slow download speeds regardless of whether you have a premium account or not. Your ISP may be throttling traffic coming from the servers.
Why don't you do a speedtest so I know your download and upload speed?

Netlimiter can see where your speeds are going
If theyre no good still then reset your modem
If its still no good call your ISP, maybe you have a provisioning problem and htey can easily fix that

there's a difference between browsing and downloading,

when you browse websites, they load quite quickly, because the files needed to transfer are quite small (a few kb's or mb)
when you download, the content is usually larger than a few mb's, so it takes a bit longer.
(try and stream HD 720p video's and see if it takes a while)

also, you might not be downloading at the fastest possible speed your getting, try using internet download manager (IDM) when downloading and see if that makes any difference.

im not talking about how long it takes, im talkin bout the speed. ik all you guys think i might be very n00b to all this but the wording may of gotten lost in translation somewhere lol. Im just saying streaming HQ vids work well but actually DOWNLOADING something is so slow.

Call your ISP, ask if they're limiting the traffic coming from MegaUpload. Problem solved. Djeez...

    EDIT:

Try downloading from another site like hotfile or mediafire or something and check your down speed as well.

So the guy needs to contact his ISP. Numerous of us already stated this. I work for an ISP and the issue he is saying is 99% sure a distribution/provisioning fail

One more question to OP, do you use your own modem or one provided by your ISP?
