Actually it's giving me a few options on IOS 249 - none guaranteed to work

Install IOS
Extract to wad
Delete IOS
Copy / change version / patch IOS

I'm dying to hit install but I know u guys will think i'm an even bigger nob head if I select the wrong thing f**k it up even more. lol I'm just gonna sit on my hands for abit

I have zero problems trying to install (NOT deleting) the wii cios's because they are probably not going to work with vwii anyway.
MAKE SURE vWii cios are being installed.

you can try "Extract to wad"s,also

I did install from SD and it said

"could not open SD:/wad/..........."

Then I connected it to the net an did download "IOS from NUS"

Installing../ERROR: ES_AddTicket: (-1017) Wrong IN or OUT size, wrong size for a part of the vector, vector alignment problems, non-existant ioctl. You need to use an IOS with a trucha bug. That's what the IOS15 downgrade is good for......

Did you have a cios vWii wad on your sd card in a folder called wad?
btw, I was not expecting you to have to connect to the internet but since you have just try and update the WiiU.
I am not expecting this to work because of the wrong IOS 58(but who knows)

Here's the steps to do
exit vwii and try to update WiiU - take picture/copy down any error msgs.

IF it will NOT update, SHUT off COMPLETELY the WiiU. (plug power plug for 30 or more seconds).
Turn on power to WiiU. Go immediately to update WiiU.(DO NOT ENTER vWii/Wii mode)

Have u got a link to the correct file and what should i call it? also what should i select, 36 or 38 as a base.

IDK about installing the update yet. I thought the plan was to uninstall the vwii completely and prey it installs a new copy when the update runs. It hasn't been replacing ppls ios so I'm assuming we would need to uninstall for it to detect an error.

BTW Install cIOS and install IOS are completely different screens. When I click install cIOS, it does not ask me for a file it just says

Select base IOS
36,
38,
Any ios: IOS 249 - (I can change this)
If I click 36 it says:
Select which revision of IOS36 to install

1042 3093 3094 3351 3607 3608 3864
If I click 38:
Select which revision of IOS36 to install

3609 3610 3867 4123 4124 4380
If I click Any IOS 249:
Select which revision of IOS36 to install:
65280
After selecting 65280, The next screen then says:
Choose patches for IOS249

Apply Fake sign patch yes/no
Apply NAND permissions patch yes/no
Apply ES_Identity patch yes/no
Apply ticket version check patch yes/no
Apply setuid check patch yes/no
Apply korean key patch yes/no
Apply set AHBPROT patch yes/no

These are the ONLY IOS36 or IOS38 versions that are SAFE for vWii (there are NO Wii version with these numbers):
IOS36=v3864
IOS38=v4380
this is provided they don't fake sign the IOS's

As far as "Choose patches for IOS249"
Apply NAND permissions patch yes
Apply set AHBPROT patch yes
are the most important

Nothing worked. Its driving me crazy. It refuses to load the files on the SD card - I'll try it on my USB drive tomorrow. After that I think we should uninstall the NAND and run the update. Like I said previously, I'll be happy if we can brick it

to answer your question on previous page, a stub IOS is a deleted IOS.
instead of really deleting the IOS and having an empty slot (which would result in any old games with an update to reinstall the missing IOS), Nintendo is deleting only the IOS data and leaving a dummy file instead with no useful function. It has a version higher than previous updates to prevent deleting it with.

Nintendo also released stub version of slot249 and 250 in attempt to counter piracy, deleting installed IOS and preventing installing it.
But they updated the version to 65280, which was easily countered by hackers by making a cIOS with even higher revision (65535). But any version can be installed/replaced, so the revision is only preventing update popup if you don't have priiloader blocking it. installing 65535 is not very useful.

Any reason why he does NOT have HBC and cannot install HBC but it shows up with a titlelister program(HBC 'LULZ')?

Maybe he removed HBC by using the official Data management?
It doesn't delete the ticket. (to be able to re-download deleted channel from eshop, and maybe also prevent deleting existing savegame)

I don't know if deleting HBC with hackmii installer removes the ticket.

Did he delete it? Usually, when you delete files, you leave traces behind that show you had it installed once. Windows registry is an example of that. Could there still be traces of it that weren't deleted and its strings still showing up thats causing the issue?

if you delete it with the wii menu, it leaves a trace (the ticket) which keep tracks of every installed channels.
if you delete a channel or system IOS using AnyTitleDeleter, or a wad manager, it also deletes the ticket.

There are always a trace elsewhere, but not the files or folders.

Could the "trace (the ticket)" be preventing him from re-installing HBC and not the wii version of IOS58.
I thought HBC would seek out other IOS's if 1 were non-compliant.
Is there a way to force HBC to use another IOS 59/36/38 etc.?

I have deleted the HBC with the Data Management and I can still intalling it, and I don't think we can run another homebrew channel with another IOS, the installer needs to be modifyed, and both installer and channel runs on IOS58.

I don't know if having a ticket already present prevent reinstallation, but I would guess it's not an issue as I never saw a user reporting not being able to reinstall it. gi5431 is the first one.
HBC used IOS36 before 58 was available. maybe on vWii other IOS are not possible (if they have a whitelist of possible IOS revision for example, they don't need to have multiple choices as everyone has the same revision out of the box), and I don't think there's a way to force a specific IOS.

sorry, I don't know a lot about HBC's internal functions.

edit:
Thanks goku for testing it.

Maybe missing IOS on vWii will be re-downloaded when the WiiU triggers the update.
I've read another user did it (in the previous thread, where we were helping the other user).

I can't guarantee it, as I never did it nor don't understand how vWii is updated on WiiU update.
If you are willing to try, and if you manage to delete IOS on vWii (you might require AHB access to do that), it's worth a try. your current IOS are not working anyway.

before deleting them, let's get sure it's ok by asking other users

Sup guys, So I've been playing about with it all morning, still to no avail. TBH I kinda wanna update and get this thing prepped to go back to the nintendo. Has anyone got any Ideas about uninstalling IOS and installing the update? The update runs on IOS62 (I'll check) so would it make sense to uninstall the target IOS and unistall IOS 249 in hopes that the update will replace the missing IOS. Do you think that we should uninstall the whole vwii? What order shall I uninstall them in?

TBH I doubt I will be able to uninstall anything so should I just run the update?

Did you ever try the USB route you said you were going to try?
Do you have HBC 1.1 and 1.0? Can you try those? Get logs in between(from installer) and run SysCheck in between look/post differences
HackMii Installer v1.1 is vWii compatible
HackMii Installer v1.0 probably won't work and you would need an HBC forwarder because channel name is different.
If both those fail after EACH attempt try to run latest HBC/HackMii installer.
Btw, according to f0f:
All of the updating and downloading for vWii actually happens in WiiU mode.
Have tried entering the vWii in Maintenance Mode to see if any thing shows up?

USB didn't work
I tried loads of variations of hackmii and HBC when it first went wrong and nothing would run.
Tried maintenance mode and nothing looked different.

Did you ever try loading up your vWii NAND with anything and everything Legit that you had to fill up the NAND. Until it was TOTALLY filled. And Then try installing HackMii 1.2/1.1/1.0?
