Hacking SDHC Flashcart

Hi,
My R4 Gold Pro 2018 has arrived, and I'm ready to use it. From previous threads, I understand that timebombed cards are a big problem, but for now I'm going to use it anyway.
I'm using the cart to get ntrboothax, following the instructions on 3dsguide. If Im right, I think this cart uses a kernel, so I'm not sure if I have to get that AS WELL as ntr and b9s. Also, do I need two seperate MicroSD cards, one for the device and one for the cart?

If you're doing the ntrboot single system 3DS method, then you will need the kernel
All flashcarts require a kernel to function for their normal usage (running `.nds` files). A flashcart kernel is just collection of files which must be on the root of the flashcart's SD card. You can find the kernel for your flashcart at the website that's printed on the label that's on your flashcart. Once you extract the kernel onto the flashcart's SD card root, the flashcart will work. NOTE: The flashcart's SD card must be FAT32.

Since the single system 3DS method requires to launch an `.nds` flasher, you will need the kernel do that guide.

Depends. Are you planning on playing NDS games?
For the guide, you can temporarily put the SD card from your 3DS (if it is a microSD card) in your flashcart, then flash it, and then put the SD card back into your 3DS.
Also note that you do not need the flashcart once you finish the guide. You do not launch 3DS games from it.
