There's no point why it shouldn't work. I'm using a 16GB Sandisc SDHC card myself, and everything works fine. (All of my games I have on them do run, homebrew, emulators and GBA games too) Music and video is fine, and the M3 has no SDHC card size restriction as far as I know. (You could ieven use a32GB card if you could get one somewhere) ^^

So no worries, you only have to format your card to a standard cluster size (should be done already) or 32kbyte, as Sakura doesn't support a bigger cluster size. (I'f you're using touchpod only you may use 64kbyte too.

If you're using Windows XP you're restricted to standard format anyway... ^^

yeah, i know that m3 ds real works well with up to 32 gb sdhc (there is not 32gb micro-sdhc at this momment), but, ¿castlevania portrait of ruin (eur version) works for you?

that is the question, because i heard some games like TWEWY and castlevania portrait of ruin does not work well with some micro-sdhc's

but i ask if 16 gb 6 class will not freeze games like TWEWY or castlevania POR, ¿anyone who got 16 gb micro-sdhc or 6 class micro-sdhc can try it please?

these are roms

Castlevania: POR

TWEWY (100% Translated To Spanish By Rigle And Twewy Team)

only try to run it and see if it freezes or not with the micro-sdhc's i mencioned, the language doesn't matter.

edit: ok i have deleted my links thanks, i will try buying it, thanks again to all the people who helped me

You better delete your links... otherwise you may risk to get banned from the forums... but other than that it works.
It's just using the newst firmware and having your card formatted to a clustersize of maximum 32kbyte. Then you should be fine.
wink.gif

And every other of my 65 roms do work fine too.

those 2 games freeze or not depends on the microsd you used ..and there's no guarantee which microsd cards will work which will not, you'll have to test it yourself

Personally, I think Sandisk is one of the best manufacturers if it comes to Micro SD / SDHC cards. Amazon does have them for a good price and they're highly compatible from what I experienced. I'm using one in my mobile, another one in my DSoff course and I've used them in digicams and stuff. Have had them from 1GB, over 2GB, 4GB, 8GB and finally 16GB, they all worked, and what's quite more interesting, they ALL worked in my M3 flashcart so... ^^"

Dunno what's with the one you pointed out above, but as long as you get your hands off Hama you should be fine. Kingston seems to be a little problematic too...

Kuschel-Drow or anyone with a MicroSDHC, could you test this?
goto http://cheats.gbatemp.net/ and download 04_03_09_USRCHEAT.DAT.zip
unzip it to your micro SDHC
1. run, Touchpod
2. choose a game then select the cheat file usrcheat.dat
3. enable a couple cheats then push B to save

are you able to start the game after it saves the cheats or the M3Real freezes?

correct me if i am wrong but isnt that cheat file designed for use with the r4 only? M3 real uses the cheat.db one

Errr... why should it freeze? Works with GBA cheats aswell and games start as usual. (I mean you have to pcik a cheatfile for GBA games too so I don't think that anything would freeze ^^)

The only problem I have left is related to Sakura itself but not my SDHC card. ^^

I'm just asking someone with a MicroSDHC to test it to see if it's my MicroSDHC card that freezes or it freezes on all microSDHC...lol

I have got the 8gig version. In stock condition, the Random Access Time was 1.0ms and the transfer speed was around 16mb/s. This was tested using HD Tach.

Unfortunately when I formatted the card with the Panasonic SD Formatter, my Random Access Time dropped to 1.1ms and I started getting noticeable lag in 3D games.

Maybe the lag is just perception because I know my card has 'slowed' down.

I tried formatting in Windows while manually setting the file system and cluster size but the performance is roughly the same as with the Panasonic Formatter.

Maybe I should try formatting in Linux.

Oh I also formatted it with Windows formatter tool with a 64kb cluster size and the speed increased back to 1.0ms, however Sakura doesn't work with that cluster size and slack space is huge.

Thanks for checking that out. An interesting result for a class 6 microSDHC. It looks like the class 2 SanDisk 16GB microSDHC is quite fast, according to hjreggel's website it performs faster than some class 6 cards:
QUOTE said:
The SanDisk microSDHC Class 2 16GB, SDSDQ-016G-E11M is available for several months now, but up to now I felt no need to buy one. Now it was time to try one. For those who doubt the availability: The manufacturing code inidcates week 26/2008. First tests showed a maximum read rate of a little below 20MB/s, and a maximum write rate a little above 12MB/s. This means that the tiny Class 2 card is still faster than some full-size Class 6 cards.

I'm tempted to get the TS16GUSDHC6, but I can't escape the thought that the SDSDQ-016G-E11M performs faster - for about half the price.

~Jelle

You have to realise that the speed given by HD Tach is extremely volatile. Even a different card reader can give drastically different results.
I just tested all of the cards that I own.
The results are shown below.

8gig Transcend
Random Access Time: 1.0ms
Average Read Speed: 16.4MB/s

4gig Kingston
Random Access Time: 1.1ms
Average Read Speed: 19.3MB/s

2gig Tomato
Random Access Time: 1.0ms
Average Read Speed: 19.3MB/s

They were tested with a SanDisk MobileMate Micro Reader.

A bit disappointing that I bought the Transcend as a replacement for the Kingston card and it has a lower read speed.
I was under the impression that Transcend were in the same class as Kingston in terms of speed and quality. I guess I may have gotten a 'slow' batch or just a slower card in a batch.

Yeah a lot depends on the card reader used. However I think the MobileMate's are among the fastest there are, and I've tested quite a few from DealExtreme and local shops.

On the Transcend website I read some info in the TS16GUSDHC6's FAQ about different memory cells and their performance. SLC is faster than MLC, which is more common and cheaper to produce. I guess 2GB Kingstons and the class 2 16GB Sandisk use SLC.

I wonder what the TS16GUSDHC6 has. Couldn't find that anywhere.
