So is it really fair to charge for something that is not perfect?

Emulation is rarely perfect, anyway; even "official" types of emulation like the old Zelda Gamecube bonus discs. But as long as the GBA and SNES emulator get updates to improve their functionality (though we have no way of knowing at this point if the SNES emulation even needs improvement... I'm sure it'll be better than the current solutions), I don't see any reason why it's "unfair" to be charged for the feature.

IMO, compared to my CycloDS, several other flashcarts aren't really "perfect". Not all have perfect compatibilty with all games, or support DS-Wii linking... despite not always allowing you to do quite everything you could with the original cartridge, you're still charged for it. That's no different than this emulation.

Well, the only reason I bought the Super Card DSTWO was to play the whole Megaman Battle Network series (starting 3).
Any idea if these games have any slow-downs on the iPlayer?
Still, I would like a better media player than moonshell...

I will buy it if.........
Acekard2i + iPlayer = SuperCardDS 2

Otherwise, I go with Acekard and iPlayer

SNES emulation doesn't appear to be ready yet. Media playback appears to be done through Moonshell which is also not running right now. GBA emulation uses Darkchen's GBA emulator which performs the same as on the iPlayer but with a much nicer GUI.

*flush*

Well...there goes my interest in it, at least getting one on "launch" anyway.

Yep, same here.
Wow seriously are you people THAT impatient? Holy fuck you folks are pessimistic and impatient. If you refuse to wait for something or believe that certain features will be available right off the bat, you are an idiot. This isn't your little magical world where everything is fed to you on a silver platter. The Supercard team is working hard to get the core of their flashcard working in order to release it, which includes GBA emulation, the other emulators will come later on after they have patched up and made sure that the SCDS2 is working smoothly.

Well, the SCDS2 was announced nearly half a year ago. It's not unrealistic to be a bit disappointed by this turn of events. While I wouldn't have the SuperCard team to rush their cart, it's also been a long way coming too.

The sell point for this card is, besides it being compatible with all DSs, the GBA and SNES emulation, it doesnt say anywhere that its an added bonus, its a feature, as in they are charging for it. So is it really fair to charge for something that is not perfect?

Anyways, as overhyped as this looks, I really hope in the end its all they promised, so, waiting for the review

.
Hey knucklehead, all flash cards sell for around 40 dollars when they initially launch, then they drop in price. So how exactly are they charging extra for more features?

it has been in development for a while so we have been waiting for it and only an idiot is happy with buying an unfinished product.

granted emulation is never perfect, if it is the same as our current options id wonder what the supercard team has spent their time doing? making a pretty gui?

It seems like they have lost their interest in it after hearing the announcement of the 3DS

mmmm maybe it´s the complete opposite

... they are in a rush to launch the damn card because, when the 3DS came out, almost everyone gonna spend the money in the new handheld

Look, "knucklehead" all other flash carts DONT have in their features the GBA and or SNES emulation, again, if its advertised as a bonus, then perfect, u get that, a bonus, but this is not the case.

Next time, when u want to quote me, either say something intelligent, if u can, or simply dont quote at all. I wasnt talking to you and I didnt call you names

I know..damn Supercard for adding an SNES and a GBA emulator into their card! I mean, what were they thinking adding new features over what most cards have?

Seriously, people expect too much for the *first release * of the software of this card. Name any DS flashcart that was perfect at the very moment it was released. I'm sure it'll be at least as good as the Supercard that I have now, but with the extra features that I'm sure will get even better over time. As has been said, Supercard isn't like say the M3 Team, where they seem to regularly abandon flashcarts (like my slot-2 M3 Perfect that's sitting here neglected because it's horribly out of date). It's not like they'll release and we'll never hear from them ever again.

I'm not exactly sure where you get off with your attitude about me expecting anything on a silver platter. I expect nothing more and nothing less than a decent product. I'm not going to sit here and complain if that doesn't end up to be the case but I'm not going to buy it out of a charitable cause either or just to quench the thirst of a few SC fanboys like yourself. I'm a customer. When the emulation is up to snuff and only then is when I'll consider one at a later point in time. I already have two flashcards (CycloDS and AK2i) and I'm not going to sit here and suck SC Team's dick and fork out 40 bucks when there is no reason to do so right now. Make a product that's worthy of my purchase first.

..and on the subject about emulators inevitably getting better with time? well that's great and all and I'm sure they will. When they improve to the level of what I find acceptable, I'll consider one then. I don't see the reason for me to rush right now and jump aboard the train.

Nice little tantrum

I've been watching this thing since last year when it was dripping with hype. They finally show us something months later and it's utter crap. If they ever get all the features they promised up and running, and it's worth the price, then maybe I'll take another look at it. Until then, I'm just not interested anymore. I don't know who you think you are, but if you don't like that, then you can just go to hell.

Indeed. Currently when I compare my CycloDS Evolution with the SCDSTWO, the only difference is DSi support (don't own one so that doesn't affect me) and free cheat (I haven't used a single cheat yet in over 2 years so that doesn't affect me). I can play GBA games natively with the Ez 3in1 with almost 100% support (can't say 100% since I haven't tried all games available since I don't own them..). If the GBA emulator doesn't work with the titles I want to play, why would I buy the product..? One thing the SC team could do is release a working GBA/SNES emu for the card and it would make me think about it.

I'm waiting for the full review just for the sake of interest for another product that has quite the same specs as the CycloDS I own.

//Qtis

ps. This is not hype about how the CycloDS is better than any other card (like the way a lot of people think when stating facts and comparing products). The SCDSTWO is an interesting product but if the promised features aren't made available, I'd just wait till it's cheaper

The sooner its out the sooner people will be picking holes in it saying "this dont work, hat dont work" and my favorite "can we port this firmware to R4?"

hahahahaha, as usual this is the gbatemp's nature

they will hype all the things until its like the world is going to end
when the thing is out they will start finding some holes
tongue.gif

yeah, you are right about r4 and i will add the dstt users

i wonder will both of us get flame?

haha i think a firmware should be made so that all firmwares explode when supercard ds two comes out

then everyone will have same and no crap posts

lets just hope the world ends from all this hype and we wont have to worry
