This is a nice gesture, but I feel like it might have the opposite effect that is intended.

If his parents are afraid of molesters and groomers, then a petition with 100 signatures from this forum begging his parents to allow him to keep using the forum is likely going to seem suspicious and might confirm their fears.

Then allow me to clarify:
They won't.

And for further clarification your petition has no effect on this.
Its fun though, and it gives the kids something to do.

The fuck are groomers? Are they afraid we're going to start dressing him nicely and styling his hair and shit?

It means somebody who gives gifts (i.e. money) for sexual things to kids; i.e. "here's £5 now show me your x"
Sometimes money isn't involved and the paedo abuses the child's emotion.

It's just another.
The NSPCC:
"Grooming is when someone builds an emotional connection with a child to gain their trust for the purposes of sexual abuse or exploitation. Children and young people can be groomed online or in the real world, by a stranger or by someone they know - for example a family member, friend or professional."

Its the first I had heard the term used like that. We just call them pedophiles across the board. Can't wait to give my sister shit about taking her shih tzu to the dog groomer all the time.

His parents fears of us ALL being groomers or pedos is wrong. I am not ruling out the possibility that there might be one or two here, but I would hope to God that isnt true. However, his parents are right. If hes 14, he should be spending more time outside, with friends, and working on schoolwork. Far be it from me to tell someone how to live or raise their kids, but too much of anything is a bad thing. I dont see a problem with limited GBAtemp time, like my parents imposed, but the amount of time he is spending here is ludicrous. Voxxie, if you read this, I hope you understand where I'm coming from. I by no means what you banned from the forums, nor barred from ever appearing here again. I know internet addictions can go. I didn't find GBAtemp till I was a senior in high school. I spent a lot of time here. Unhealthy amounts of time. Trying to set up moonshell, reading about DLDI patching, playing the latest homebrew and just trying to get recognized as a member. In fact, I have a blog detailing a freshman year saturday lol
Anyways. I hope his parents are reasonable, but its out of all of our hands.

Also the petition is not only useless, but scary lol
