Hacking Save troubles

I have dumped all of my disk games and installed them to a USB drive using WUP installer. Seeing as I've played these games before, I expected the save files to be recognized. Not so. So I went into data management and copied a save file to USB to see if that would work. What it actually did was delete the entire game in the process of copying the save data. I'm very confused and I want to know what I have to do to get these installed games to recognize the saves I have for them.

So you are saying I have to delete all my games, copy the saves, then do the installs all over again?
Is there no other way?
