Hi,

is it save to update to the latest firmware? I am using a rcm Jig and a hardware dongle? Can I install games over usb with that FW?

I didn’t test it but someone reported on GitHub that usb install with gold tree is slow. Also why do you want to update to 8.0.1? There is no need for it. Wait until everything is stable.

I have here a switch with 4.1. I want to play new games on it. Ignore FW version on install works not for every game.

8.0.1 is fine. You get 1.75 GHz boost and games load faster (currently mario odyssey and zelda).
If you are on SX OS then you have to wait for them to finally step up their game.

Update to 7.0.1.

How can I do that? I think the update will everytime go to the latest.

Does the install over USB works?

Dont update from system settings. Use the homebrew application ChoiDujourNX instead to update to 7.0.1.

Great, what tool do you use?

use choidujournx to install fw you download from places I can't name.

If you use exFat then you must select it every time you install with choidujournx.

Even if you don't use exFat then there is no problem with always selecting it, nintendo don't ship it on all switches because they would have to pay a license fee for them all. They only have to pay a license fee if you plug in the card and it contacts them to do an update.
