satellite internet problems

we have ipstar satellite internet and we have had a few problems with it but it's been fixed and is now going fine. its fairly fast except for when i download something
at the moment the download speed is 8.3kbps and it took me 10 minutes to download a 6.5MB song. I also download lots of podcasts from iTunes straight to my iPod with the router but that seems to go really fast. so if anyone has any idea whats going on i would appreciate your help

You could try to get a normal wired internet... And moving to another country, since the internet in Australia seems to be pretty lame.

I've never heard of satellite internet before. Thats odd, perhaps you should contact your ISP.

If your download source is only giving it to you at 8.3KB, then you can only get it at 8.3KB. Considering you said other stuff works fine from other sources, that seems to be the case here, but we could use more details.

it used to be about 120kbps and now its like 8.3kbps
