I'd like to update my system to the 4.0 firmware before someone else in the house blindly does it, and to try out the new SD features. I've been reading through threads and guides, but I'm still not sure how to do it without risking my homebrew stuff.

    - I have the homebrew channel installed (though it is an older version)
    - I just installed USB loader 1.4 and the CIOS rev 10 that goes with it
    - I have firmware 3.3 or 3.4 (not at home at the moment to double check)
    - I have a drive chip installed

    So:
    - Is there anything else I need to install?
    - Will I loose any features?
    - Do I need to reinstall anything afterwards?

Update to the latest HBC and use Waninkoko's firmware updater 4.0. You will be good to go. I also advise finding a way to block disk update checks.

So I don't have to downgrade to 3.2 or install multiple IOS wads or any of that other stuff I've seen in the various tutorials?
One of them said "Install patched IOS60 with wad manager (This will allow you to run unofficial channels through the sd card menu)"...does that still need to be done?
Is preloader the thing I need to block disk updates?
