I was wondering if it was possible to change my CFW to Luma 3DS without any complications. I was also wondering whether Luma 3DS had a similar boot GUI similar to Rxtools and whether I needed to update my sysNAND to the latest firmware because I heard that Luma had a special feature that allowed for it to work on the latest FW on sysNAND (I want it lower)

How would I transfer everything and stuff..

(Sorry if ^ sounds retarded but I'm a complete noob at CFW's)

If you need more detail, just ask. But, it's as simple as deleting all of the files used for rxTools, then following an installation guide for Luma3DS (like this one: https://github.com/AuroraWright/Luma3DS/wiki/Installation-and-Upgrade).

Alright, so if I don't have arm9 I don't need the blue files correct?

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Since I have my NAND's seperated will I have to delete my non-original NAND?

-edit-
Thanks for your help!

Don't take my word for it, as I'm color blind (and I have difficulty with colors such as blue). But, as I assumed you were using A9LH, in regard to this question:
whether I needed to update my sysNAND to the latest firmware
If you don't have A9LH, DO. NOT. UPDATE. Just don't do it! Luma3DS supports the latest firmware only if you have A9LH installed!

Assuming your "non-original NAND" is your emuNAND, no, you won't have to. But it's always good practice to make backups, just in case the unthinkable happens!

No, I don't have A9LH (I believe) and luckily I don't want to update my sysNAND past 9.2 so I really don't need it (I believe). I'll make a backup of my SD Card to prevent the unthinkable!

-edit-
I guess I'll start! I'll send a message on this thread in case anything happens! Thanks!

I can use Luma without A9LH correct?

To clarify, you need a tool such as Decrypt9 (https://github.com/d0k3/Decrypt9WIP/releases) to backup something such as emuNAND, as it's on a hidden partition that is inaccessible to you.

Indeed. But, I recommend you get A9LH, because it's the way of the future as far as 3ds hacks go. Here's the guide: https://github.com/Plailect/Guide/wiki/Part-1-(Homebrew)

Would you recommend backing up the SD Card for any case?

I heard that A9LH causes a lot of console bricks so I'm scared of going that route, but I think I'll do it. Do you recommend any youtube videos?

@Duckling You dont need to get A9LH to use luma, just get rid of the rxTools files and put the luma ones on your SD, no big sience behind it, same emunand + menuhax setup works with luma.

Alright, I'll try that. All I need to do is place the Luma Files on my sd card and boom! its done?

If you use a boot manager such as ctrbootmanager just create an entry for it on the config file and thats it, luma even brings its own boot.3dsx for menuhax use.

If you are scared you will noob fail at it backup the files to your PC.

Alright, you're the genus. and I will backup my files just in case (all 21 GB)

I used to use rxTools, moved onto reinand and today morning I finally jumped to luma.

Took no time to transfer CFW since they are only files you copy and move around.

If you feel so inclined, then why not?

Not anymore, unless it's by user error. Plus, youtube videos become outdated quickly. The guide is revised constantly, and videos simply aren't.

Oh yeah, uh...*ahem*:

LOL no, back up all the CFW files except "Nintendo 3DS" folder, games installed have nothing to do with CFW files moved around, thats wasting time tbh
I want to thank whoever made you. You saved me 39 hours! My hero <3

-edit-
Now that i'm done backing up my stuff I'll try it out! and i'll change the boot conifg

Christ, here I am assuming you're in the same situation as me, with a standard four gigabyte SD card that comes with the system! Sorry, hopefully I wouldn't have literally forced you to waste a day and fifteen hours! That's an unthinkable wait time!

Lol it's fine, it was probably just transfering small files @ like 10 kb/second.

Anyways, the github page talks about there being a Luma folder but I can't seem to find it in the original github post. Do I have to compile it?

-edit-
nvm I found i. Should I download the most recent version? 5.5?
