Gaming Rune Factory Seed Maker problem

The seed maker in the workshop isn't letting me turn my crops into seeds.
I did what it told me to do. I dropped my crop into the seed maker, but my character says
"I can't use this right now."
I tried dropping milk into the yogurt maker and I get the same problem.
I'd really like to fix this problem.
And I've already checked if I have enough space.

So, does anyone know what my problem seems to be?

You're in the middle of a quest.
Either finish or abandon the quest and you can then make seeds.
