I don't see wy bulit in motion control is such a shock, they did it with the ps3, does everyone remember the sixaxis they put in every controller?

They're probably just going to add a gyroscope this time, i can't really see a huge change in the controller (other than bumper guards)

I can actually somewhat believe this 2012 launch window, but just remember the ps3 will still be supported even after the ps4's launch, just like the ps2 was. Remember the ps1 came out in 1994, the ps2 came out in 2000, and the ps3 came out in 2006, do you see a pattern?

Iirc, they said they were going for a 10 year life cycle this time.

yeah and after a complete failure it was they decided to rip of the wii mote that's what they do their too stupid to come up with their own designs and any $ when the ps4 is finally out it will copy the Wu tablet ANY $!

They also had a ten year life cycle on the PS2 but they of course launched the PS3 in the mean time. Wanting a ten year life cycle doesn't mean you won't have other consoles in the mean time. It's more like "We'll support and have games coming out for the console for at least ten years."

FIXD

if true, I can't believe sony would resort to copying AGAIN. is that company just incapable of hiring talented people? they must pass out applications to homeless people on the street. that's the only way of explaining how such a respectable company has fallen so many notches...and howard stinger. haha!!

I dunno, this intrigues me.

I was planning on getting a PS3 later this month but this makes me have second thoughts. Don't really care about motion-controls.

Why would a rumor about a future item make you question buying a PS3 now?

Sense you make not.

Well... every console has a 6-7 year span, the ps3 was released in 2006 after all (2006 + 6 = 2012), but seriously, it might be a coincidence, it might be bad luck, it might be Sony just freaking out each time Nintendo releases something, but they do tend to release something else afterwards that kind of resembles what Nintendo does... but you know overpriced and overpowered.

Sneaky marketing techniques Sony

to me its seams cool .........sony has the technology to make a great motion-controll experience ............but sometimes i would like to see sony born its own idea ...............the majority of the time it just takes something already done in the gaming industry ,adds something (not to much) and then sell it .....
oh man i would like some virtual-reality glasses made from sony!!!

Don't really care at all, this good be true because when Sony claimed that "We are not bothered about Wii U" they actually meant the opposite, because the new tech Wii U uses is kinda intriguing and may lead gaming to a whole new level, in short not-so-sweet words - Sony is scared.
This x100
EDIT: Even sony stated themselves "We aren't afraid of a little cofee stain" and this was before the console was even announced

a lot of rumors tend to be true these days. < looks at many of the rumors of the wii-u>

plus, a lot of this information is coming from the companies that originally manufactured the playstation 3, so it has a high probability of being true.

The problem is, he's question buying a PS3 because of a rumor about the PS4. What sense does it make to base your purchase off a rumor about a system that isn't even the one you are buying?

That said, there's no way we'll have another console as great as the PS2, so there's really no chance of a PS4 having "A ten year lifespan".

Wait, you do know that "the end of a console's life" and "A consoles death" are different, right? When it's life is over is when the next generation system for that specific company is released, while one's death is when developers stop making games for it and support for the system stops for the most part.

I thought the Ps4 was cancelled...
Back on topic: If it has motion control and if it is overpriced, I won't buy it!

Don't want to end up purchasing a new console just to have another one be released next year.

Especially if it does end up having backwards compatibility with PS3 games.
