Never cared about NGP, even though I'll get it deep in 2014 or so. Maybe.

VRAM's not cut back, and it's not liker that small resolution is going to need models with really high polygon counts or high-resolution textures anyways. Where the cut is going to hurt is in game/logic/physics complexity.

I wonder if those specs are the actual specs.

The problem I'm having with this is that according to the article this only affects the non-3g one. This would be two slightly different systems and could potentially mean some fragmentation of the way the games are going to be made. Either they will be dumbed down technically to meet the requirements of the lower end version, or as time progress, they will have two slightly different quality games. It would also point to the fact that there will be a future upgrade version of the handheld that will have the actual 512 MB of RAM. Ugh....I'm hoping this isn't true. They should stick with the 512 for all models and price it at $300. The 3DS is so lackluster that if Sony can point the obvious advantages of the NGP, they can overcome at $50 difference.

01.net have a track record of leaking the ps3p's spec. and the spec. has changed...
Great track record worth re-iterating throughout the post?

If they limit the specs of one model, the full specs of the other will never be fully used, to ensure total compatibility. This is retarded. If you need to dumb down your hardware to cut costs, do it on all models.

Although I didn't really like the NGP (I have a PS3 anyways), I feel that this move is actually pretty smart if it were true. It is also about time for the 3DS to lower in costs.

I'm not sure if this is a good thing or a bad thing.

I'm kind of put off that there isn't any internal storage. Hopefully they have a bundle for a memory card or something.

    Same here.

And I'm not surprised about the downgrade. They have to if they want to compete with the 3DS. And they want to.

    Sony? Consistent?

This is the company that released a "new" model of the PSP that was completely incompatible with both the physical game AND storage medium of the last revision.

Do people still try to use that as an argument? They released the Go, but never got rid of the 3000. It's not as if they said, this is the Go and is going to be the only model available from now on. If people were stupid enough to not understand that one was completely digital, then WTH were they doing buying any gaming system at all.

We ARE talking about another situation where it seems there may be two different models with different specs released at the same time, and I was referring to the Go because it was an example of that.

You thought I was arguing something I wasn't.

Well, the Go still kicks so much ass as a piracy/homebrew device that it's not even funny. Seriously, if you're looking into buying a PSP and using it for piracy or homebrew, you want to get a Go. Even then, it was just their way to try and make a larger pull to downloadable media, probably since the NGP only has backwards compatibility with PSP games via downloads (and all your downloaded PSP games will transfer to the NGP on your PSN account).

As long as the NGP still keeps its same features and high graphics, I'll be wanting it. It seems better than the 3DS, even if it'll be outsold obviously by the typical Nintendo flood.

Man... If the NGP really is priced like that, I'll sell my 3DS for one of those bad boys.

Sony just lost the game before it really even started, it's the fact that their inconsistency is making it much worse
