i think it's dependent on many factors as to whether it does or not, it seems to not do it on AK2i's made before december 2009, depends on SD card, and mine isn't updated for use with a DSi -.-"

umm you do know these are temporary fixes right AKAIO Team will make a loader for fix this

1:1 clone of the r4 with wood r4 1.12
i used the universal patch

it's fixed, and what your referring to is a firmware update.
