CFW means Custom Firmware.

You'll need to submit a bug report then and give me a lot more information:
• What flash card type
• The error it showed
• Exactly when it crashed

If I'm not provided with that info, I can't help you and fix the problem. I have thoroughly tested each flash card's cheat downloading ability and they all worked fine (had Salamantis test as well, he confirmed it to be working fine too)

The big one in there is the Cheat Support -- Rominator now talks with GBAtemp and connects directly to Narin's cheat files. If there is an update, it can be downloaded and updated straight to the flash card from Rominator. As a plus, for Registered Users, they can have the database auto-updated whenever the flash card is inserted. If a new one is available, it is downloaded automatically and writes it to the appropriate folder for your flash card. Remember to set your existing flash card type by double clicking on it!

Actually, you just guessed one of my upcoming features

I never announce my large features, so good guess

Betcha can't guess what's next!

Sorry, I'm not going to read through 22 pages, but does v2008 support looking through folders? Example: Let's say i have one folder full of folders with my roms in them. Can I click the one folder and It'll detect the ROMs in the other folders?

This is by no means an accusation of Rominator but has anyone using the OS X version ever had problems with their MicroSD corrupting? Maybe its just OS X using the FAT filesystem but after every few times I plug in my card the card will be corrupted. I have a CycloDS and am using the silver transflash reader that came with it (maybe thats the problem, maybe not). I can always format and fix a corruption error but now my MicroSD is totally dead and was only purchased back in February. Its no big deal because Kingston is taking it back.

I just want to know if I am alone that Rominator for OS X is corrupting the MicroSD or if it is just my OS. Is there anything I need to change?

well, it depends. i think i can blame OSX a little, Disk Util's FAT format should be OK, but somehow it hasn't been so since 10.5, not as compatible. as long as you "Eject" the drive, it shouldn't leave open files or damage the FAT. also, delete those .v100 and .trash folders, (using Terminal or Path Finder or Windows or a DS file browser), and, if you're pedantic, run jkdefrag on the drive under windows before loading the ROMS onto the card (saves time reformatting later.). there's no Mac defrag program for FAT, and you don't need anything special, it's just a post-install defrag to speed up booting the uSD in the future.

as for Rom 2008.8, i might just donate now with the auto-update cheats.db in there. i would like a better way to detect dupes when adding ROM's, as i often drag in a folder and it 'forgets' that it already has the game. (perhaps that's already fixed, not sure. i'll find out)

great, now it asks for donation ¬¬

It's not mandatory you know. The usefulness of donating is that it unlocks all the extra perks, which is stuff you can live without, but still handy. It also helps with development. If you're so bitter about showing your support, then simply don't show it

You bet it does. It scans up to 5 folders deep so feel free to organize your games nicely in their folders. Just be sure that when you make the game list, set the specified folder to the main location of all of the subfolders with the games, and hit the 'Refresh' button to start the scan.

This is by no means Rominator's doing. Your card or card reader is the culprit, but you said that Kingston is taking it back so looks like you're settled there. Believe me, if Rominator caused MicroSD card corrupted, nobody would be using it

Rominator accesses the card just like the OS does, and corruption normally would not come from the OS itself, but in fact faulty hardware. The same thing would have happened if you were using Windows.

I tried that one myself a while back (on the Mac), I have an NDS Roms folder with American, European, Japanese, and Homebrew folders inside. When I added NDS Roms as a game list it copied all the files from the sub-folders up into NDS Roms folder, which is not really useful

In the end I resorted to adding each sub-folder as a game list, then created equivalent sub-folders on my SD card and added each one as a flash card and just make sure I copy games from the correct game list to the correct 'card'.

Is there a better way of doing it? In the previous version I just had all my ROMs in one folder and used smart lists to split based on nationality, but still had a separate entry registered for each folder on the SD card. Any chance of smart lists coming back, or are they gone for good?

Check your settings. You have the 'Automatically copy to Game Folder' checked off, so it will copy any games not in the games folder, into it, which is the main 'root' of the subfolders. I may modify the code though to check and see if the game it found is in a subfolder of the main game folder, this way it won't do the copy function.

In regards to the Flash Card, I will eventually add a means of organization of multiple subdirectories, because I too like to have everything sorted by genre.

Smart lists have been replaced by the Display Filter -- You can find it in the Tools menu. You can filter out the list however you like that way. For the next revision I'll be adding a 'Duplicate List' option so that you don't have to add in every game again just to make another 'smart' list.

how does the cheat feature work? I cant seem to find it in any of the menus (I have a CycloDS)

Also would it be possible to update from this database? ( http://srb.110mb.com/downloads.php )

Also,
Feature Request: Set the maximum disk space usage for Save Defender.

That is not a Rominator question, that is a question for Team Cyclops, but since I have a Cyclo myself, I can help

Just load a game, if cheats exist it will ask if you want to load with cheats. Say yes, and you can pick yours.

And no I will not be updating from any other database besides Narin's -- It is maintained in a fashion where I can parse it properly and is all stored in the same server. It is called the 'GBAtemp Cheat Database' for a reason
wink.gif

I also will not be adding a maximum disk space usage for Save Defender, but I may add in a Purge option, to allow you to get rid of backups older than XX days, although the idea of Save Defender is to not have to delete your backup saves.

Narin will be removing the backlight codes for CycloDS starting next update. I've asked if he will also be removing the large/problem codes using Vergessen's scripts. If he does that, then the cheat database will be identical to the one maintained on the SR Blog. If you want to use the one on the SR Blog, there are 3 methods to do so: 1) Download from computer, 2) Download from your DS over WiFi, 3) Use Shane's config editor.

I've been using a Mac to manually manage my SD card for months. Recently I've been using Rominator 2008 on Mac OS X to manage it. I've had zero problems. The Mac OS X hard disk utility will format FAT16/FAT32 as needed based on size. While it has no defrag utility for FAT file system, I have not seen an issue with fragmentation on my CycloDS since the 1.4 betas (now 1.41 Final). But I also upgraded to a larger/faster card, which can make a difference. What size/class is your Kingston?

I have had problems with 2 CycloDS silver card readers in the past. I invested in some Sandisk readers. Oddly though, my third CycloDS reader is working

The biggest corruption source for me has been DSOrganize (Birthday Edition). For some reason, after using it, I would see files renamed to old DOS 8.3 filenames (with ~ and stuff). It's calmed down recently. Maybe soft-resetting from in the file browser was the culprit.

Lastly, under Mac OS X, I've found that running a utility called BlueHarvest, helps keep the ._, DS_STORE, Spotlight, and Trash files from being created. If you ever attached your card to a windows PC that could see hidden/system files, you know what I'm talking about.
