First sorry if i sounded harsh in my last post.

Now about the .rz format I have nothing against it but one thing: i wasn't able to uncompress it with another compression tool. Your others argument are definetly right. How much is the plugin btw ?

Tried the Show game saves option: the add save is greyed out whatever i try.edit: Ok i figured it out. Had to select the rom in the list first. (But , I get an error code 1011 every time i click a gamename
wink.gif
) It seems that making a backup of every save game on the flashcard is not available with just one action. Having to do it manually for each game is a bit boring. That's why i kept on saying the save system could be improved
smile.gif

No it's not too hard to press ctrl+T. I just thought it would be more convenient to select a game there then have an action like "backup save" and voila
smile.gif

I fully understand how hard it is to develop such an application. And once again yours look really good to me and I'd really like to use it in a regular basis so thats why I'm pointing out what would turn it into the perfect tool in my opinion.

Regarding RZ, I made an rZip Utility to decompress the games. However I'm going to modify the program a bit to make it more compact
smile.gif
As for the plugin to access Zip functions across all platforms, it comes in a package with other plugins for $99.

Error code 1011... That means it's crapping out when it's trying to get the trimmed size. What game were you clicking on? Was it the original game? compressed? Trimmed already? Let me know.

...Backup Save in the Actions menu on the Flash Card list... I like it! I'll add that in.

Thanks for the positive feedback

I kinda heavily edited my last post

Where can I find that rzip utility /me wants
smile.gif
I have to admit the plugin package is a bit expensive especially if you already made a tool
smile.gif

The game i was clicking on is Elite beat agent - original firex(F) rlz. Nothing applied to it. edit: Nm i found out the problem : i moved the game to another location so it was unable to locate it. My bad... sorry.

Looking at your responsiveness, I think i'll start using rominator from now and i'll keep you posted with everything i find interesting to improve.

Have a good day,

Could you possibly add an old save database import tool?

Extracting and reloading 100-something save files doesn't sound very fun.

Aside from that though, good release. Much faster than the previous version.

I'm working on revamping the rZip utility. I'll probably release it tomorrow
biggrin.gif
No worries! I agree, the plugin is expensive, but if I can get enough support through donations (I will
wub.gif
you for it) then I will definitely add in Zip support.

There was a bug that would fire of an error... Code 1011 I believe, whenever you clicked on a game that was moved and Rominator couldn't find. That's been fixed for tonight's v5.0.1 release
smile.gif

Remember, anything you find please submit it through Rominator's feedback system -- This way I can keep track of all the suggestions and bug reports.

@Urza: If you can just hold out for a wee bit, I'll create a real quick lil app that you can use to extract your save games. Can you just email me your backup.rsd file from the Rominator Data folder -- I think I'm missing a backup save file, and would need one to make sure it extracts
tongue.gif

And if you think this release is faster, you should see v5.0.1 coming tonight -- It's even faster.

A little app to extract all the old saves would be great.

All of your hard work is appreciated! I continue to use Rominator daily!
cool.gif

EDIT: I would send you a copy of my save database to help you out, but it's 45MB.

Size concerns me not
smile.gif

I'll use your backup database as a base for making the extractor work, since you have multiple saves which is great. I'll have something for you guys tomorrow.

I'm really confused. How do I make my old sav files work?
In the old Rominator, you click the game, then click the icon for the save utility (lt looks like a silicon chip).

This will pop out the Save Utility. Click the save you want to export, then hit the "Export" button and save it somewhere.

Then you can just import it into the new Rominator like you would any other save file.

Hey hankchill,

Rominator 5 rocks! It is indeed a major update, all thanks to you
biggrin.gif
But there are some bugs... like take the Rom Validation thing, when I drag a rom in the little box, nothing happens. And sometimes there are some graphical artifacts with the little ROM size bar. But other than that, I've found nothing else!

P.S.-I'm running Mac OS X Tiger (is Rominator Leopard-ready?)

My $50 offer still stands. That's half the cost of the plug-in right there. You have to release a version that uses the plug-in first, though.

In response to all your comments:

@salamence502: Your rom has to be a .nds game. It cannot validate .rz as of yet. I've tested it myself
biggrin.gif
As for the graphical artifacts -- Those have been fixed, and the bugfix update is being released tonight. And no, it is not Leopard ready, and won't be until Leopard is released so I can confirm it's compatibility.

@IBNobody: Believe me, I've been contemplating your offer for a while, but I just can't bring myself to purchase a plugin to add in support, when I don't know for sure that you're not scamming me. I don't mean to sound harsh, but with tight finances it's just a risk I can't take right now. If I make enough in donations, then I'll purchase the plugin, and then take you up on your offer
smile.gif

@BakuFunn: See above.

@Saylient_Dreams: Wow, no problems with Vista? That's unusual
tongue.gif

@rodimus1: Thanks

v5.0.1 has been released. Here's what's new:
- Fixed a bug that occurred when you created a new Smart List, it would give an error.

- Modified the way Rominator handles the display of icons. Icons are now loaded from the NDS games and stored in RAM. This makes scrolling through games and resizing 100x faster. You're welcome.

- Fixed a bug that would give you an error when clicking on a game that didn't exist anymore.

- Added the rest of the error codes. Makes for better debugging.

- Statistics now save your selected region filter settings.

Using 5.0.1

1. Loading the thumbnails into memory turns the instantaneous launch of Rominator into a 5 second wait. Possibly add an option to turn this off?

2. If any of the flashcarts on the list aren't connected when Rominator is launched, you get a "No disk in drive" error, rendering it unusable until the device is connected.

I'm using rominator v5.0.1 on ubuntu, and it crashes when I try to refresh the library... anyone knows something that could help?

loaded up newest version 5.0.1

however when checking for new version again - it keeps download same version

also what is the ._Rominator.exe program for - could not delete it at all when I downloaded version 4 had to start windows in command prompt mode and delete it thatway?
