Hi, Whenever I use Rominator I quite frequently get an error code "exception of NilObjectException" or something like that, and it happens all the time and then rominator closes.
When initailly using the program i added the folder that contained both original roms and trimmed roms, so i had 2 of everything, so i highlighted everything and pressed delete in the belief it would simply delete the items from the list
cry.gif
i managed to press cancel in a frenzy before over half my roms were gone
So after redownloading everything :'( i try Rominator again cautiously and now whenever i try to do anythin the error comes and closes the application down. Could anyone help? BTW i deleted rominator and redownloaded but i get the exact same result.
Apart from my mishaps, great app.
Thanks

Hank, would it be possible to make it so when you press the red X to delete a ROM, it only deletes it from the Rominator list and NOT actually deletes the NDS file?

Or could you add key commands so that when you press the DELETE button, it removes from list and when you press SHIFT+DELETE it removes it both from list and folder?

There are times when I've wanted to just remove the ROM from the list only, to then find its deleted the file as well.

Also, 1133 to 1171 (EU and US ROM's only) don't have game icons. Is this a Rominator or ROM issue?

If you press SHIFT+DELETE it removes it from the list. Do you think it should be the other way around?

The games do have icons -- update your database, and refresh your list

Anything with a release number will display an icon.

@Brenex:
I'll check em out

@sinkhead:
My pleasure!

@greenslumber:
With Rominator you do not need to add in trimmed roms -- it trims roms on the fly as they are copied to your flash card. As for the program crashing, do me a favour: Email me your Settings.rsd file and your Library.rsd file. Remember, redownloading Rominator will not solve the issue -- there is still a data folder with all the saved data

But I'll need to know which OS you're using to help further.

@Logan again:
I think we've just confirmed that I'll be making the delete button just remove from the list

okay got them, er , what is your email address? i looked at your profile and your site, and unless these glasses need a good clean im blinder than i thought

Personally, yes. Its just more similar to the way operating systems handle the deletion of files. DELETE just moves it to the recycle bin, SHIFT+DELETE totally removes it.

Very strange. It renamed them fine, but just isn't displaying the icons. I've updated the database and refreshed my list, still no joy.

I'll have to do it the manual way again

Delete the Rominator data folder and start again!

Keep up the good work

It's right in Rominator, under the About Rominator item in the Help menu

@Logan:
You don't need to delete the whole folder

Try clearing the library.rsd file... better yet, email it to me, along with your ds.rsd file. I'd like to figure out what's causing this strange behaviour.

EDIT: Swapped the box art for 0694 and 0695. Should be fine now. Click on the game and click on the box art to force it to refresh.

Allright, here's what I've come up with for the next release:
To Do List
• Complete Online Help documentation
• Option to change font sizes
• Screenshots
• Game Descriptions
• Zip Support (To be Determined)
• Multiple Flash Cards
• Remember region filters
• Connect through Proxy server
• Allow for name to use internal rom name
• Option to ignore flash card free space (for certain linux users
wink.gif
)
• Allow for renaming of game in the list while leaving the filename alone
• Remember position in list that you are looking at.
• Remember the last list you were using upon launching

Fixes
• Swap Delete and Shift+Delete for removing games
• Fix Window Main Resize Issue
• If Sort is by Number, sort properly with drag & drop
• Crash in Mac OS X if rom is on external drive, and drive isn't present
• Fix welcome dialog Flash Card Location directory setting
• Disallow the naming of the game to nothing - Whoops!

If there's anything else wanted, now's the time to mention it

maybe also for the shift+del thing, have a dialog box pop up asking if you want to delete the file too? That way, people who don't know about shift+del will be able to still do both

I think it'll just be clicking delete will remove the game from your library. Shift+deleting will pop up a dialog asking to delete the game.

Here's an idea, perhaps rominator remembering the position you were looking at in the general Games tab when you switch to the another list like a smart list or Flash list and then back.

Also is there a way to rename roms in the database and list view but leave the actual filename alone? I would like to just have them listed by name in rominator but I still like %n - %t %c for their filenames. Thanks again hank

Good ideas. I'll add both of them.

By the way, if anyone has some creative artistic skills, I could sure go for an icon designer for Rominator 4.0
smile.gif
I want to have new icons for the program and Skin designer, and need something artsy. Has to look good in 128x128 and under
smile.gif
PM me if interested.

Hm I don't really like that one at all, I am redoing it and will have something better up tomorrow. I will take a look at skins but I'm not very confident : /

*EDIT* I replaced the one two posts above with a much better icon. Enjoy!

Here's my work, fresh of the presses of Photoshop. (I made it from scratch, it's not a work of art)

Hope you like it!

EDIT: I use it on my Mac, it looks cool in the dock.

Thanks for the icon suggestions so far -- Although they are nice, they don't feel very "Rominator". Remember, Rominator is a super-utility for DS Games... Gotta think of something that represents that
