Yes, you can download the latest version by clicking the link on the first page of this thread.

Just thought I'd let you guys know that the DS Box Art database has been complete thanks to FAST6191. I now have the complete collection of unwatermarked box arts to today. Although I still need to update the datatase with the latest 3 games or so, that can wait till later

You can just run the check for updates if you're using Rominator already.

Regards.

Hate to double post, but it's not in regards to the previous post.

Rominator v2.1.1 is available.
Here's what's fixed:
• Rom 0403 - Finding Nemo (E) Was not recognized. This is fixed and the latest database can be downloaded
• Fixed a nasty bug where Rominator would download the wrong box art for the games. This happens after renaming a game or sorting your games list by clicking on the list heading (which will automatically sort by either game number or game name).

If you find that you've had the Box Art Issue, you can delete your Box Art file in the following location:

Mac OS X:
~User/Library/Preferences/Rominator Data/boxart.rsd

Windows:
C:/Documents and Settings/~User/Application Data/Rominator Data/boxart.rsd

Deleting this file will get rid of all the box arts and let you start fresh. The issue should not come up again.

Thanks everyone, enjoy.

Regards.

EDIT: For any new users, you can download Rominator from my Signature

hi hankchill.

first of all: thanks for the new version and especially the naming scheme!!

well, concerning the settings-bug: used version 2.0.1.0 (windows xp sp2), so maybe its a windows-build related bug. BUT, what is even more important, is that in v2.1.1.0 the bug is still present, so you'd check it
wink.gif
(btw. my brother running winxp sp2, too gets the same thing).

another thing: just saw that rom "0866 - Puyo Puyo! 15th Anniversary v01 (J)(WRG)" is displayed to be "0766 - Puyo Puyo! 15th Anniversary (J)(WRG)" [0866 is an bugfix-version because of a save-bug in 0766]. so this should be fixed in your db.

have a nice day!!

I need you to tell me *all* of your *exact* steps so I can replicate this bug. Nobody else seems to be getting this problem. I even deleted ALL settings, started fresh, and changed every settings without a hitch. Closed it down, reopened, and everything was still the same way I changed it.

And yes, I am aware that some games (namely v1.1's) show up as the previous version. (as you mentioned, 0866 shows up as 0766.). The reason this happens is because the program reads from the internal name and game code, not CRC, because if someone had a patched rom, the CRC would be different and therefore not recognized in all of the offlinelist-type programs. What I'll do is add some special code in there, specifically for the v1.1's so if it finds one of them, it'll display them accordingly. All I gotta do is find 'em all

Offest 1e (hex, 1 byte in length and normal roms are 00) is the version number in the header if you did not already have the info.

Been testing this version for a little while now and can safely say I have found my new favourite manger, hate to be a bother but any timeframe on (7)zip support? (the original 7zip lib should be compatible with closed source if you wondered).

Oh and I do not personally use it but I know some still use .ds for DS roms, could you consider adding it please.

Ah yes, Version Number
smile.gif
Completely forgot about that little tidbit
biggrin.gif

Adding a version number to the database is not a problem at all. It just means that anyone who will upgrade to 2.2 will have to download a new DS Database through the Check for Updates menu item. No biggie though, right
biggrin.gif

7zip is confusing as hell, I'm still learning it's decompression method
tongue.gif
I'll expirament with it, and see what I can do, although I can't give a promised date as to when it can be expected.

I'll add .ds support as well. I'll modify the code accordingly.

Anyone else manage to reproduce the bug that _mrshl_ has been having?

Regards.

EDIT: Allright, Version 2.1.2 is available. This fixes the issue with the wrong version being shown. If anyone finds an error somewhere, please let me know
smile.gif

Make sure you download the latest database!

Where does this program store data base files? I think mine are corrupt or something. It was working great but now it doesn't display boxart, icons, or any rom info. I've been trying to uninstall whatever data it's setup to use but I can't find it.

Yeah, same happend to me just now
Think it's a error there end, not ours

I just downloaded this, and this is really nice. I used to use ndsCRC but with this I don't think I will anymore. I'm having some problems though, its the same as the two above poasters, I don't see any information or any boxart. I tried check for updates, and it doesn't download anything. When I first booted it, it downloaded a database, then I went to settings, and put the path to where my roms where, and it found it all, but none had boxart or any information. That's all I've done so far.

yeah, i think theres a problem that isnt a user error, just sit back and wait for hanky boy to sort it out
biggrin.gif

Okay, that's strange.

Did you make sure you downloaded v2.1.2? If you use anything before 2.1.2, then the program will NOT work with the newest database.

I tried it on a fresh machine with a fresh copy, it downloaded the database, and it works perfectly fine.

Again, be sure you're using 2.1.2.

Regards.

EDIT: In regards to the people who cannot find the location of the settings, you need to learn how to read the 'Read Me' files
wink.gif
Everything you need is there.

I downloaded from your sig, I'll redownload it and try it again. Thanks.

Edit: Lol, funny, I was using 2.1.2, I just restarted the app before downloading again, and it worked, lol. Thanks again. Great app. Perhaps, is there a way to implement some checking just in case someone decides to mod some rom and put a bricker in it? Perhaps a CRC check or something of the like. I'm not to savy with coding, not sure if checking the internal name would be good enough to guard against something like that. Also, from what I understand, you aren't checking CRC because some people like having trimmed roms. Maybe you can just sorta "flag" roms that don't match say whatever your checking, and let the user decide to remove the flag if they know they were the one who trimmed it. Just a thought, but thanks again

My goal was to avoid CRC checks altogether, because if you, say, patch a rom with a trainer, then all of the organizers will not recognize it anymore because the CRC doesn't match in the database.

It's really up to you to make sure you get your games from a trusted source.

I guess one thing to mention:
FOR ANY CURRENT USERS BEFORE 2.1.2:
If you were using a version before 2.1.2, and then updated to 2.1.2, it will show your games with NO icons, and NO information. Run the 'Check for Updates', and it'll download the latest database. From there, the game list needs to be refreshed: Just press the 'Games' list button and it'll refresh just fine.
If you use a version before 2.1.2 and update, your games will no longer be recognized upon updating just the database. Get with the times and download 2.1.2
tongue.gif
For the next release I'll have it check for new program releases automatically upon launch, just so you know when there's a new version out, and won't have to check for it
smile.gif

Regards.

So, I changed nothing and it's now working again. Freaky.Â
wtf.gif

You updated the database, right? And it still displayed nothing, right? But then you ran it again and it worked, right? I had mentioned that after updated to 2.1.2 and having it download the newest database it would work just fine
smile.gif

Wait till you see what I've got in store for 2.5. Yes, I'm jumping a few minor versions because what's to come is going to be pretty big
wink.gif
I think only one of you may know what I'm talking about
biggrin.gif

Regards.

Im pretty sure I had the right version all along. It's the one that's in your sig. Everything was working great (I love this program by the way. Thanks =) then I hit the Game button and it refreshed and all my box art and rom info was gone. Automatic updates were on the entire time. I restarted the program a few times and still no luck.

I go to lunch come back fire it up and it worked perfect. So Ya, I have no idea.
wtf.gif

Anyway, it's working great now and that's all that counts.
