RomeR- BETA 2.1 Released!
I've contacted opium so he may update the main post but till then heres a temp link
RomeR-Beta2.1.zip

Beta2.1 Changes
?Inverted Pallete to fix transparency issue
(gif's with no transparent pixels may display incorrectly)
?Fixed corrupted title error when editing just the title
?Fixed spaces (no longer added to embed titles)
?Put in new checks to prevent homebrew being edited if no icon file is selected
?Homebrew checkbox auto unticks once a homebrew it edited

Homebrew App Checkbox:
This lets the application know the game rom is homebrew and does not have an icon stored within the file. When it is checked RomeR will add the banner information into the rom in a safe location (normally the end) and then alter the header accordingly. When it is not ticked romer will use the information inside the header to determine where to write the icon so for homebrews that have already had an icon added to them or for normal roms the homebrew checkbox should not be ticked. Technically it will still work but it will mean the old icon will be left inside the rom taking up space for no reason.

Romer trys to detect unedited homebrews and should tick the box for you if it is required, I included the option as a precaution to allow users to enable it if the detection fails.

REMEMBER: roms previously edited with romer do not need homebrew app to be enabled.

@IHM
No it shouldn't affect the game at all the header fixes are only for homebrew proper roms already adhere to the rules so there will be no change.
Under Options>Settings there are a few options that can be changed if you are having problems with a homebrew jamming after icon addition, but changing these options may affect the end results compatability.

@VascoAlmeida
A beup icon is included in the sample icons folder of Beta-2.1

This is soo cool and so shitty at the same time.. Cool that you now have this ability but so shitty for the possability for abuse.. Just wait all new rom releases will have there icon "STAMPED" with some shitty release group logo, just so they can get even more recognition. I really hope they respect the community and do not alter dumped roms icons. let the users do that if they choose.

BTW: could you add a feature to extract the original icon, so if the above happens someone could rip a clean icon?

Forgive me my ignorance, but is it only supposed to work with unpatched roms? Or is this an M3 SD issue that I get only error messages when I try to open any roms already present on my M3?

it's designed for raw unpatched roms. Try applying the patch after you modify it with romer.

Please let me know what carts you have found it to work on currently only R4, DS-X and EZ-V have been reported working

Regarding the extract icon I did think about adding the feature before, so if it would be useful, I will include it in the next release along with the fix for multi line embed titles.

you know kiddo that "shitty" release group brings your daily games? and release groups are not for attention, they work in secrecy. and i dont think they will do it. some other morons probably will... but i hope they do add intros just to fuxx0r your minds

Works with the cracked Maximum Overload rom loader for the GBAMP CF.

Well, kinda... The rom still worked fine, but when I changed the name to LAWLTMEMORYTES (It was Trace Memory), it showed up as some minuscule white lines in the loader. It could be that the loader has a certain font size it uses, and when I messed with the name the size was set to 1 or something.
Also, I took off the icon. rom still loaded as well as it should have.

Kiddo? not hardly..

I'm one of the older members here (age anyway)... Intros.. God save me.. I hated when they figured out how to do that with GBA roms.. Its like I always say, just because you can do a thing... doesnt mean you should do that thing....

Don't get me wrong, I have nothing but respect for release groups. Hell if it wasnt fo them we wouldnt have what we do. I am just a pureist, I hope they leave things clean, no matter what tools are released. I think this program is EXCELENT for homebrew developers so they can add a icon to "THEIR" roms..

Case in point... "Please GBATEMP dont be offended." When releases come out gbatemp stamps every graphic that is displayed, even the icon
gt1497.png
with little "G". they do this to "show" this came from them. I don't mind that, I just would hate for this trend to make it on the roms that may end up on my DS... Personally, like most of the users, dont care where it came from as long as they get it. Its the greed and leech in all of us. Like my car... The day I got it, I removed all the stupid stickers and lables that showed where the car came from... Im not advertizing for them.

Kyuzumaki everything seems to work perfect now
Don't know if it will still be helpful info, but before when the title should have been alligned to the right of the screen, it was running of the left side, I also noticed if I only edited the first line of the title, it was only the last line that got shoved over to the left.
But it's working great now thanks

I've tried it with beup, the icon and the tittle shows up in the game browser of my M3 but it doesn't run.. any advice?

This program is EXACTLY what I've been looking for.

With the addition of some Rom Trimming/truncating options - this program would be super solid.

Thanks!!

@eledu

Beup live v0.3 is the program I used for testing RomeR! It of all programs should be perfect.... Is it an M3 simply?

Suggestions
1:
Make sure when you first attempt to add the icon the Homebrew app checkbox is ticked
2:
Download a new copy of beup
3:
If you have to patch your roms before putting on your cart make sure to add the icon with romer first as romer may interfere with the patch.

RomeR will not be getting a rom trimming function however I intend to make another tool for organising roms in the near future, rom trimming will be a feature within it as will icon alteration via an altered version of RomeR

so you mean you are jobless/poor/rom-collector? if you are rom-collector, hey pack-rat, you dont probably have all the time in world to play all the released games? you cannot afford to buy games? you know if you remove intro, what does it really matter? you just press start. it takes one second to press start to skip intro, lol. how is that for hard? i guess it not that hard. intros are not cutscenes that are impossible to skip... even old games had them, but seems that some guys invented this called "intro-removing" .. i remember capital iam_lame.ips. geez...
and most of all: if you want 100% working game, you go buy it or you use scene-release...

Has anybody successfully opened a Rom that contained japanese characters in the header? I tried to pretty up those pesky questionmark signs in japanese games. Here's a list of what didn't work for me:

0782 - Hiite Utaeru DS Guitar - M-06 (J)
0241 - Shanghai (J)
0532 - Nounai Kakusei Honeycomb Beat (J)
0031 - Polarium (E)

Picross DS (J), MoonShell, DSOrganize, New Super Mario Bros, Hotel Dusk: Room 215 and Tetris DS all opened fine for me

zone97: Don't worry, if a ROM is altered, it is no longer a clean rom, thus it'd get nuked in no-time (yes, I've see warez releases getting dumped for incorrect info in the .nfo - the 'scene' is harsh).

This is very convenient for compiled homebrew nds files. Now you can look all professional! No more PAlib on the labels, yipee!

I've tried it again and it didn't work ... I have a fat DS with M3 mini SD.. I've tried with beup live 0.3 and with the last original beup compiled by me and the same happens.. it hangs up in game loading...

please try my patched beup and tell me if it works on your ds...

Jobless? No, Poor? No, Rom-collector? Majorly... As for buying games... Dude I bought 1 (one) uno, single and it was a really really cheap one.. Got it second hand for like 5 bucks... Why.. Simply so i could use it with my passkey so I could flash my ds.. Once that was done. It went into the closet. I'm just a leech, rom monkey, whatever you want to call me..

Proud of it... anyway, you are right, dont have all the time in the world to play, but I sure give it my best shot. Oh and just to prove Im a leech, I have a Dreamcast and a Gamecube, DC has over 75 CDs all "backups" the Gamecube I have like 30, all backups.. When the Wii mod chip is prefected and the "backups" easy to come by and burn. Ill pick up a wii then...
