Anyone ever had this?

So I put the silencer pads on it: opened them up carefully, removed plastic rims, trimmed pads, pasted them on, reassembled.

Then I fired it up and the sync lights keep blinking on the drum set?!

I don't think any of the pads got detached, but if so, can that cause failed syncing?

It shouldn't; if a pad is detached it just won't work. Make sure nothing involving the control system (the "brain") is detached. If it's blinking, it might be OK; make sure you have battery, and try troubleshooting the issue a bit more.

Ditto what Sfenton said. ALSO, If you are using a backup loader, and using a CIOS based on IOS56 to get the drums working, I believe I read in another posting that IOS56 does not allow hot swapping/loading/syncing of the usb equipment the way that ios37 does. You may want to make sure that the drums are plugged in prior to launching the game.

I am running the game through the unmodified game channel, so it won't have anything to do with cIOS

I've tried new batteries too, same result.

I will see if opening up the brain part and poking around a bit will do any good.

Thanks for the replies!

that doesn't work, I tried that of course.

here's the full order:

1) Wii on -> Base dongle blinks, Drum dongle blinks
2) Rock band start
3) Drums on -> Base dongle blinks, Drums dongle solid(!), drums keep blinking, pads and buttons don't react at press plus screen
------------
Sync 1 : press button on drum dongle and drums -> drums dongle off, drums blink
Sync 2 : same -< drums dongle solid, drums blink

Not a thing, followed all the wires, all seems fine

Could this be explained by a broken drum dongle?

It just seems it has to be the drums, as it happened after I took the pads off for the silencers.
At that point I didn't open the whole thing yet, so that's why I was wondering if a broken pad could explain this.
