Happened to me (my error was getting cia file infos tho), just keep retrying and the error won't appear eventually.
Not necessarily I have downgraded and updated 100 times now for real so My last chance is formatting, my 2ds as soon as it finish updating I will format.

no actually he sleeps
i am fun
sometimes

Not as fun as this Fun Fact:
KTM was originally named PANIC and started as a part of espwn, this was later changed to turnipshax, and finally KTM. :)
Well, I'm finishing codename "panic" (now KernelTimeMachine) that I began with eSpwn. It's basically sysUpdater but much much safer.

Hope this fun fact eases the thread tention.
No..?
I tried..

I'm really disappointed. I waited an entire week for KTM to be released because I thought it would be a simpler method. I don't blame JustPingo though. I blame everyone that were harassing him to release it, instead of just being patient. I only hope now that he implements those security features into sysUpdater soon. Maybe then I'll use it to downgrade.

Ok, I see lot of people having downgrading problem so here a method for O3ds (tested on 3 3ds, work 100% and the 3 on first try)

1.Copy file of sd card with Teracopy (so backup)
2.Instal SD formater and have these setting http://prntscr.com/9mk5cc
3.Install homebrew on the fresh formatted SD card and look if it FAT32 encryption
4.Install a theme from theme shop in your sd card (for home menu hax)
5.Go in browserHax and launch homebrew
6.Install menuhax in your 3ds
7.Put sd in pc
8.Delete boot.3dsx and put updates folder (of 9.2.0-20E) in your sd card folder http://prntscr.com/9mkb1u (Idk why I didn't delete it it lol)
9.Take the julian SysUpdater.3dsx and rename it boot.3dsx
10.boot manuhax and it will be sysupdater! when it launch it will look that freeze, but don't touch anything

restart if there glitching text

After it start, don't touch the console for the 10 next minute even if it reboot

it combine 2 method, but I can almost guaranted that not look to softbrick

thanks!

I'm really not too invested in the backstory and don't have the time to follow it.
He's a kid who was working on a project other people were excited about, which probably got him really amped to talk it up.
That shit happens.
Think about all the stuff you said you were going to do when you were younger that either never did or didn't do to its fullest.
Then imagine being bullied by people 10 years older than you because of it.
Seriously, you just sound ridiculous.
So you don't know anything and are deciding to insert your 2 cents anyways? Gotcha.

I am immediately disregarding everything you say now.

He's talked up everything he was supposedly "developing". He hypes himself up on purpose. It's not like people found his work by chance and started harassing him. He announced it and made a huge deal about it.
He's 16, by the way, not 10. He's old enough to know the ramifications of his actions, especially on the internet.

there is a copying error that has nothing to do with the 3DS if not with the pc
if you use MAC changes and used certain windows they were only solved the problem by doing so

I use Windows and all the files are copied over nicely, it just doesn't want to downgrade unless i format which i will not do.
Maybe ntrcardhax will be used by Gateway.
And before you yell at me for saying something like this, Gateway is the perfect team to use ntrcardhax.
I just have wait for it soonTM.

What, I don't even... No.
That's such a cop out of an excuse if it's the "reason"

This precisely.

I don't think it's ungrateful to be angry at somebody for their promises ending up unfulfilled.
Keyword being, of course, "promises".
JustPingo promised way more than he could actually deliver on three occasions now:
The "Hidden" Ninjhax Kernel exploit, SNShax and now KTM.
It's one thing to go 'i might be onto something here relating to x and y, but i can't promise anything, stay prepared by doing z' and it's another to go 'GUYS, LOOK, I'M MAKING A THING AND IT'S DEFINITELY HAPPENING!'.

The latter one just builds unnecessary hype and that's not something you want if you're not absolutely confident in what you're doing.

To summarize, it comes across as the effective equivalent of that kid whose uncle works at Nintendo and is gonna be bringing the next Pokemon game over during breaktime (with a slight twist to it): Even if it's true that your uncle DOES work at Nintendo and you DO already have the next Pokemon game, if you don't deliver at all, people are going to be pretty precisely pissed.

I don't know about other people, and I'm not even mad myself, but I'd say what people are angry about isn't not getting what they were told they would get: It's the fact that this sort of attitude is, sorry to say, very little to nothing short of being a straight-up attention seeker.

I see where you're coming from, but I stand by my position that bullying people is uncool.

The only thing different AFAIK is checking MD5 so you are sure your cias are the right ones. Just make sure you download the good ones and use sysUpdater and your chances to downgrade succesfully are as good as they were supposed to be with KTM.

Let's be clear about this: either upgrade before Tuesday, or wait for some months and downgrade when everything is stable.

I don't think KTM was ever meant to be released before the 10.4 update.

(I'm supposed to be asleep but yeah, laptops are convenient)

But how do you check them? People say I should use TericCopy. Is that the best thing to use?

Download your firmware files. Compare MD5 of the zip with the ones in the thread with this.
some offline ways (which I highly recommend since they are faster):
  • Windows: WinMD5Free or HashCheck
  • Mac: use the "md5" command in terminal, like "md5 file.zip"
  • Linux: use the "md5sum" command in terminal, like "md5sum file.zip"

I'd reccomend HashCheck over WinMD5 just for the convenience of having it available in the Properties menu, frankly.

Truelly downgrading isnt as dangerous as people have been making it sound. Bricking is pretty much user error exclusive at this point.

There are still, AFAIK, a dozen weird cases of bricks out of ca. 25,000. Blame the user for all the other bricks.

If an sd card loses connection between cia files would this be a softbrick or hard?
I'm curious if this has been considered as the cause of some of these cases.

A lot of people use microsd to sd card adapters in their o3ds that aren't exactly reliable.

I seen a few that truly weren't user related. The program would just lock up during downgrade, and cause a brick.

I personally downgraded just fine.

There is still a consolation prize is that we can download and install legitimate CIA
this modified version of FBI is unstable can do that even other reguion and open it with HANS
I think if this would regard him as a tool to develop better user privileges without degradin
