Hacking Riivolution

Meh, Nintendo forced us to release an update prematurely...
Riivolution 1.03 is out and works with System Menu 4.3 (until there's a new HBC/Bannerbomb, use Stack Smash or Indiana Pwns to run it and then install the channel).

So that means you still have a working exploit to install fakesigned content? Nice. Perhaps you should share that with TT, so they use the same exploit, so if Ninty reverse engineer both your tools, only one exploit is lost, not two?

Nintendo did not block Riivolution or any of the methods we use. They simply updated their IOS37. As mentioned before, if Riivolution does not know exactly where everything is, it will not work. We simply moved the addresses we need to match the new IOS, after checking to see where everything was. Actually, the build date for Nintendo’s IOS update is prior to the original release of Riivolution.

For an app with "great potential" it doesn't seem like people are using it on anything other than the 4 games...

I've been trying to use it to model swap in Super Mario Galaxy 2
Just as a test I tried to swap Mario's running animation and Luigi's running animation.

It should work but I really don't understand XML and every time I try to follow the guidelines and create an xml it doesn't seem to work.

What I want is to be able to take any file from the game's disc and swap it or edit it with a different file. And riivolution should read the hacked file in the folder instead of the original file in the game's disc... At least, that is my understanding on how riivolution is supposed to work

that's the basic idea. just using one of the default templates and modding the default folder and disc id should be enough for your basic purposes.

Will Riivolution hurt anything i have on my wii? Like it said it changes the 37 or something back to non hacked to work. I want to use this with Tales of Graces translation but dont wanna hurt my current set up

no, changing IOS37 through riivolution wont hurt your wii

The WiiFlow devs got it working at the proof-of-concept level and determined that they would need a much more stable DIP module to make it feasible (at least I believe that's what they said I don't remember exactly). There were a couple of releases that included an empty riivolution subdirectory which got people asking, but they took it out and aren't actively working on it or anything.

Not for nothing but I seen Fatal Frame 4 English ISO's on some private trackers, Didn't that use Riivolution?

Well, it did use an early form of riivolution AFAIK, but due to certain ...incompatibilities..., other people decided to get the modified translated files from the FF4 translation pack, and patch the game themselves.

Riivolution got an update however when i try installing it as a channel i get a error "Failed -2" , Riivolution v1.04, somebody help me... How fix it....

Well, if you get your Wii to run backups through the disc channel(without a reloader), you should be able to use this with them. This is a guess, anyway.

If you have a modchip, then yes. If you don't have one, only retail discs will work with Riivolution. If you ask why, see the other Riivolution thread.

Depends on the chip D2Ckey no joy but WODE (from HDD) + BCA some games boot.

Are you saying that the D2CKey does not work with Riivolution?
If you have the necessary non-patched version IOS37, I fail to understand why it doesn't work.
Does anybody know why?
