Wait why me?Hello, Thank you @rioray @QuarkTheAwesome @ShadowOne333 and all the other developpers for all the reatroarch features.
I'm happy because now I have all the homebrews and emu that i wanted and i can play every game i want but it's reamain only one thing in the wiiu : a video player.
I heard that one of the best ways to have one on wii u is porting the retroarch video player.
Do you know if it is realisable and do you plan one day to port the reatroarch video player to wii u ? The wii u could become the ultimate plateform with your amazing work![]()
yep, I'd be more than happy to load my Movies from the XMB MenuYou know, that would actually be awesome.
This is the Core for the Mediaplayer https://github.com/libretro/FFmpeg lets hope it can be compiled for WiiU![]()
What consoles is that core available for? This is the Core for the Mediaplayer https://github.com/libretro/FFmpeg lets hope it can be compiled for WiiU![]()
Honestly I don't know.. PC only as far as I can tellWhat consoles is that core available for?
That's what I'm assuming, and the main issue to port ffmpeg to each console is because it has a LOT of dependencies.Honestly I don't know.. PC only as far as I can tellmost Consoles already have some sort of Homebrew Mediaplayer So I think they never Ported it to any other?
Yea, I can see this is going to be a big ask but come on WiiU cant go down in history as the only Console not to have a MediaplayerThat's what I'm assuming, and the main issue to port ffmpeg to each console is because it has a LOT of dependencies.
There are a lot of libraries required to make it work, and no wonder it only seems to be available in PC ports.
Each library would need to be ported to Wii U, and that is a pain already to get one library working, now imagine ffmpeg's extensive dependency list...
Damn obnoxious xD
Yeah blame Nintendo for their stupidity on the lack of a media player for the Wii U, which they continued with the Switch.Yea, I can see this is going to be a big ask but come on WiiU cant go down in history as the only Console not to have a Mediaplayer
I think I remember @QuarkTheAwesome said he would take a crack at a Mediaplayer a long time agoI dunno if its still on his todo list though?
I Still think if the ffmpeg core isn't happening the next best option would either be WiiMC or Movian. I talked with the Dev of Movian a while ago but he said he didn't have the time to port it to another platformYeah blame Nintendo for their stupidity on the lack of a media player for the Wii U, which they continued with the Switch.
I can't recall if he said that, but the options for a media player on the Wii U are very reduced from what I can tell.
Doing one from scratch would be absolutely insane given how much effort it would take to even make a MIDI play on it, much worse for the massive array of file extensions a media player usually covers.
Right now I can only think of WiiMC, a port of it for the Wii U would be probable, but as to how feasible and extenuating it could be, I'm not sure.
VLC is another option since it's open source, but again, it has quite an extensive list of dependencies, one of which is ffmpeg iirc, so nope xD
I haven't heard of Movian, but it seems it has a PlayStation 3 port.I Still think if the ffmpeg core isn't happening the next best option would either be WiiMC or Movian. I talked with the Dev of Movian a while ago but he said he didn't have the time to port it to another platform![]()
