Is it possible to have multiple user profiles on the switch version of Retroarch. I'd like to have a version set up for me, and also one for my son with access to different games, separate save files etc. I've installed retroarch to the main menu using nro2nsp, but it does not give the usual "select profile" prompt when starting up like other normal switch games.
The user selection doesn't work with homebrew forwarders.
However it doesn't matter in this case since the selection only decides into which profile Switch games (!) are saving their progress into the internal memory.
Since homebrews won't do this anyway but save on the SD (most likely into their app directories), user selection won't help you here.
Long story short: Inside RetroArch settings there should be a menu entry "User" or "Accounts".
I never played around with that and thus don't know if it separates saves but it's your best bet I guess.

Which video driver should I use, "gl" or "switch"?
I've read that "switch" is the best option but I honestly feel no difference between it and gl in PCSX Rearmed running MGS1.

Same question applies for audio drivers.

I think GL is needed for 3D accelerated cores (flycast, mupen, ppsspp). Thought it was also useful for shaders?

Audren or audren/thread seems to consume less processor, sounds a little better, and is capturable by DVR. There's been on and off crashing issues with them and some cores, dunno if they are currently fixed.

hi all,

anybody mind sharing the config file for mupen64plus next core?
I tried the default settings, and I always find issues, such as:
Mario Kart 64: no cursor highlight & blackbox during character selection
Donkey Kong 64: I cannot see cursor highlight or even move the cursor
Paper Mario 64: I cannot move the cursor at all, can only press OK or Cancel

I didn't try all game though. it seems to be working for everybody else, so maybe anybody could share what did I do wrong? I downloaded the latest retroarch that has just released.

thanks! :),

The Mesen core for Switch might be outdated. Wasn't able to get the Mega Man 16-bit graphics pack 2.0 working, while it works fine on Retroarch Windows.

Mess around with frame buffer emulation, restart after changing

thank you for replying, but I tried and it didn't work.
I also played around with these settings:

4:3 resolution: 1280 X 960 Aspect ratio: 4:3 Noise emulation: false Framebuffer emulation: false Depth buffer to RDRAM: FromMem Frame rate: Full speed

yet nothing works ^^'

do you mind sharing your core settings file, if your's is working? thank you!

does anyone know how to convert the playlist view into a thumbnail gallery style?
Dunno what you mean but you can enable up to two thumbnails per game in settings -> appearance or change the menu driver to something else for different theme.

What I meant by thumbnail gallery is this kind of view.

How do I get Retroarch to work on 12.0.1?

Atmosphere, my nsp forwarder worked fine until upgrade, now I get the attached errors deendong if I am using the nsp (error occured) or through the album (fatal error which I grt in applet and also by holding R when selecting it as well)

How do I get it setup that I can launch again as a nsp through the main menu like a game icon again?
