X-Post from a thread in Reddit, but this is a more active spot so maybe i'll have luck here.

I have a NTSC rip of Dino Crisis (labeled 1.1) that hangs up on the "Game Contains Explicit Scenes" screen right at boot up. It may have something to do with copy protection, but others are able to boot right into it. I tried running a patch on the .bin files and then booting it again but it still hung up.

Anyone have success booting Dino Crisis in RetroArch on their Switch? If so, did you do anything special?

Edit: Same ISO boots just fine in ePSXe.

It is just fine to use multiple SD cards on a CFW-enabled Switch like ReinX right?
Like say I have a 128GB in EXFAT for the main Switch games, then use a different MicroSD card (64GB) for RetroArch?

Can please anyone confirm if this is going to work without putting issues on the Switch? Thank you!

It should work just fine, though I'd be wary about causing any strain on the SD reader by changing them all the time.

Retroarch worked fine for me, but now I just get stuck on a gray preloading screen every time I try to run it. Just a picture of the switch in the bottom left and Ok in the bottom right. I can get out using the home button. Kinda fracking sucks I can't use this anymore. Anyone have ANY ideas? It literally worked 6 hours ago, and its same formatting any everything since then.

The best thing to do at this point is to simply stop using exFAT. There are alternatives. Tinfoil network install and dz can both overcome the 4GB limitation of FAT32 by installing remotely. Not ideal, but a workable solution. Tinfoil is fast now that the recent nightlies and multithreading support.

i can actually provide proof of exfat issues but it would be kinda convoluted.

I was one of many doubting m4xw when he claimed such issues. I had literally dozens of hours in homebrew on an exfat card. but it turned out he was right. It will cause issues with retroarch. Such issues that you won't want to play it. Because unless you back up everything constantly you will have problems. Even then you will waste much life reformatting and then restoring. It just isn't worth it.

Look I can be the first to tell you that when it comes to this wonderful piece of homebrew everything seeming ok doesn't mean it will stay that way.

Issues I observed:

save states randomly corrupting
file size ballooning. (oh you thought this rom folder was only 200mb? think again try space on card being 11gb)
and as m4xw mentioned random crash

Be smart. One card for homebrew one for games that are in either large nsp format or have large update nsp. Everything else split your xci (I can confirm split xci working great for me).

The reason so many people don't believe the exFAT issues are real is because the corruption actually takes some time to be noticeable. A lot of files can be corrupted in the background without the end user knowing, and the system will continue to function as normal if these are non-critical files. It's only when critical files are corrupted that people take notice. By then, it's too late.

No need for 2 cards. Use one card formatted as FAT32, install larger games with Tinfoil network install.

I have a question about the exFat problem: Does this only concern homebrew? If so, why?! Can this be explained by someone for a noob or do I have to worry because all my normal switch data is stored on my exFat card. So the switch files, all my e-shop games, patches etc. So far it hasn't happened but these things have to be affected too?

Hello can I solve this problem if I put all my files and folders, installed games of my exfat sd card on my laptop, format this same sd card to fat 32 put all files back.
and when I have a large nsp file to install I can use another exfat sd card for installing, put this on computer again and on the fat32 card?

Nice, have you submitted it to be official?
I wouldn't know how to do that.
I just cloned the repos locally and rebuilt after seeing the Fuse repo had a new commit for libnx make support.
I expect it will come into the nighlies automatically as part of that in any case right?

Would be great if someone could fix the pUAE Makefile for libnx support as well.
I had a go and got so far but...

Oh cool, yeah libnx support on the official repo means official builds are coming, nice.

Mm fingers crossed for Amiga, hopefully now Switch has gone official there'll be more people interested in helping port stuff.
