@SIX10 Are you sure about this?

Also, are you trying to start it from HBC? Would you try loading it using a forwarder channel for RA-HEXAECO? (Look at @RunningSnakes' fowarder folder at https://www.mediafire.com/folder/kup4smqh4aw45/RunningSnakes_Forwarders and download the forwarder called RetroArch SS Hexaeco)

Because i use RA-HEXAECO and it works fine for me.
I am trying to start it with the HBC, I'll try a forwarder tonight.

@SIX10
In fact if it is a common problem, what you have to do is to enter the folder where the cores are, delete the one that says "boot.dol" and copy any other core (I did it with the snes9x one) and rename it as boot.dol.
With this, the program should work fine.
If the above doesn't work, I'll try this too. Seems like a weird fix!

In terms of which one has the better snes emulator, Snes9xGx is better for compatibility and you can play lightgun games. With ReHexaeco you have video settings like prescale that can make your snes games look good if you don't like the raw pixel.

RA-HEXAECO
На самом деле реальный форк для таких систем : Cps1,Cps2,Cps3 ,Fba Arcade,Sega,Sega Cd,Snes,NeoGeo,TurboGrafx-16,Pc Engine.:) :nayps3:

I agree, RetroArch-Hexaeco is really recommended for the Wii, and exclusively for the Wii. I still like Mednafen, FCEU, Genesis+, and SNES9x. These are fun emulators for the time being...

Sorry to bump an old thread but is anyone having issues running the latest Official Retroarch? It doesn't show up in the hbc for me.
I have everything setup correctly.. SD:/apps/Retroarch folder with meta.xml/boot.dol/icon.png etc. but its not showing up in the hbc list :P

EDIT: huh, Retroarch seems to show up in the hbc correctly on my og Wii just fine, but not on my WiiU's vWii? weird..

speaking off old cores, i once tried to load an ancient core (Image Viewer) on Retroarch from an ancient version and not only did not worked well (all images came infrared) but also it switched to an ancient version of the entire program!? like what?

Do you have all the RA Wii files put correctly on your SD card you use for Wii U's vWii?
Maybe a corrupted meta.xml?

Send screenshots of your meta.xml for RA Wii, and where did you store RA Wii files on your SD card.

Here's the Meta file, I'm downloading the latest stable from here https://buildbot.libretro.com/stable/1.11.0/nintendo/wii/ (released yesterday) the retroarch-wii folder from the zip is installed to SD:/apps, the boot.dol/meta.xml and icon.png along with the other necessary retroarch files are located there, its strange because the exact same SD Card and setup is displayed and ran correctly on an original Wii's HBC.

EDIT: ok so, looks like deleting the default boot.dol and renaming any of the other core dol files to boot.dol make's the app visible in the HBC (WiiU vWii) so looks like the default boot.dol file is the issue? again strange since it works fine on og Wii :P
Ahh WiiU, why do you have to always be so awkward lol

@ploggy

Sorry for late reply

Copied from @_47iscool post:

As of late they have not fixed that corrupted meta.xml, even for newer official releases.
Try this, copy and paste this into the meta.xml: (also change the version number if you need to)

So, for the case of v1.11.0, copy this meta.xml text and paste it into your meta.xml file:

Code:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="yes"?>
<app version="1">
<name>RetroArch Wii</name>
<coder>Libretro</coder>
<version>1.11.0</version>
<release_date>20220930</release_date>
<short_description>A cross-platform multi-emulator</short_description>
<long_description>A port of RetroArch to the GameCube/Wii.</long_description>
<no_ios_reload/>
<ahb_access/>
</app>

Hope this help ;)
