Hacking Retroarch NSP

Not strictly modchip-related, sorry! But perhaps someone knows. Today I read that for Retroarch's included MupenPlus64 you have to install an NSP, and I installed it. But it's not clear to me if that one replaces the nro version and all its subfolders or if I could remove them. Before doing some disaster: anyone knows? :)

Just backup your SD card(or at least the files you're nuking) and see?
 
You still need the Retroarch folder. I wouldn't get too excited about mupen unless something has changed in the past couple of days it's unplayable

I was using retroarch.nro. with the latest version out I just removed the .nro and installed .nsp. All my saves and config files have been untouched
