I tried it but I'm still getting a blank screen. I also saw this boot.dol do I just leave it alone?
Also not sure if this is related but I couldnt get SHIN RA or RA-HEXAECO_r24-01-21 to work when I go to homebrew and try to load them they would bring me back to the homebrew channel
@RunningSnakes Hello, I downloaded the latest Hexaco 2025 Mod but when I'm on the main menu and clicked load core and clicked any of the core it just goes to a blank screen.
I tried it but I'm still getting a blank screen. I also saw this boot.dol do I just leave it alone?

I left that boot.dol in the distribution because it is the original. The problem with that boot.dol is it is very buggy / unpredictable when using Hexaeco through forwarder channel.
The issue you are having tells me you have file corruption. You must let me know if you are using SD or USB alone? If you are using both SD and USB together, it will help resolve the issue quickly.
Regardless of either setup scenario, you MUST delete the root private folder and the apps/RA-HEXAECO folder from SD and USB.
Re-Install the package to your device and you should be set. If you are still having issues, file corruption is your problem.
From there, if it is indeed file corruption which usually happens through USB, back up your roms and other important files and reformat your device to FAT32, then import those back to the newly formatted device.
I would always suggest using SD for EVERYTHING related to Wii. USB should only be used for large Wii, GameCube, PS1, Sega CD games.
This distribution is a straight forward install, all the grunt work has already been done. I certainly hope you follow directions to fix your issue.
I’m using a 4gb SD card no attachments to the usb ports. Also for the instructions you provided I’m testing my wii instead of wii u but I get the same outcome.
I first delete private folder from root and RA-Hexaco from apps, backup, Format SD card FAT32, put all files back to SD card, Download RA-Hexaco Mod 2025, Extract and put private folder to the root and RA-Hexaco under apps, load HBC, load any core, get a black screen. I then proceeded to replace boot.dol with the boot.dol you provided but still the same outcome.
I just tried a brand new SD card and still the same issue
I’m able to get retroarch to work on this console also like the wii u but not RA-Hexaco. I don’t think the SD card is corrupt if this is the only application that fails while every other HBC apps work fine. Do you have any other suggestions?
Retroarch hexaeco doesn’t support any sorts of cheats or cheat files, does it? The SNES one seems not to, at least. I’m intrigued by hexaeco‘s ability to do bezels, but I play Wii almost exclusively with my young son who has a much better experience with infinite lives and time

I only found a temporary fix that works for CPS2. When I delete boot.dol and rename CPS2.dol to boot.dol then when I launch the app in HBC I can see it in the bottom left corner the FBA CPS2 version and I am able to play a game. I can take a screenshot and see it in the private folder in C2 mod. I installed the channel forwarder but that doesn’t work even after I put a CPS2.dol. I noticed before I put a copy of CPS2.dol back in the folder when I load the cores in the app it still shows CPS2.dol even though I changed it to boot.dol and all the cores are there twice but on my SD card I dont see the CPS2.dol file and all the cores only show up once so I’m not sure whats going on there.
Now I'm trying to replicate how I got it working the first time when I was messing with the private folders but I'm unable to but I did find things that could maybe help pinpoint the issue
When I delete private from the SD card and load CPS2 core it gives a blank screen and when I check the SD card it creates a private folder in the root and inside private is a folder called "other". Here is the cfg file.
When I replace the boot.dol with the file you gave earlier and delete private from root and load CPS2 core when I check my SD card I see it created a private in the root with the name "A7800" with similar folders/file like the "other" folder
These two files are created as soon as I load in the app from HBC. When I do click load CPS2 the only difference is libretro_path = "CPS2.dol" instead of "boot.dol" in the main.cfg

Yes the private folder as well as the private/other folder being created is expected behavior. Also seeing CPS2 and 7800 on bottom left screen is normal if you change the name and use as boot dol.
Seeing double cores and other issues you are experiencing is bizarre and definitely not normal, including the forwarder channel not working.
I have checked your included main.cfg you attached and see a couple odd things but it would be helpful if we stick to CPS2 exclusively for now while testing and troubleshooting what could be causing the issues.
If you could, please delete your private and apps/HEXAECO folders and replace with these. When you launch the first time you should see "Mednafen NeoPop" on the bottom left of the default gray and black menu.
When you get here with this test setup, please reply back and we can walk through what you are experiencing and hopefully solve the issue step by step with me have the exact setup you have.
Good question, I don't believe Hexaeco supports cheats but I have never tested, so I am uncertain.

Now you have started a game using the CPS2 core, let's set up your paths ...
Press Home button on Wiimote to Menu, scroll to and select Settings, now select Paths.
Browser path should be wherever you have your roms, so select Browser/SD:/ROMS/FBA/CPS2/ now select <Use this directory>
Back out to Menu screen and select Core and load Arcade CPS2.dol...now you should be on main Menu again, select Load Content and you should see all your CPS2 games, now select any game and launch. Did this work for you?

OK, now let us add 2 more cores and test. What roms do you currently have on on your SD? Do you have CPS1, NES, Genesis etc. installed? let me know which 2 you want to use so we can continue.

Ok, launch HEXAECO again, and on main Menu select Core, then select Arcade CPS3 core. You should again be greeted with a Welcome window, this will happen each time you load any core for the first time..
On Menu screen, select Settings/Paths/Browser/SD:/ROMS FBA/CPS3 and then select <Use this directory>

This will take a little time to load as the core is creating VM cache files @WonderingMud
