You still need the Dstwo for DS games but emulator wise RetroArch is better. When it doesn't crash.

Thanks! So the emulator here is better than the dstwo because the dstwo is a DS card i suppose. I have no really need the dstwo for the DS games anymore because i have the gateway 3ds card and with the payload of gateway i can now use the blue card like a DS flashcard for my DS games.

Top Level Menu > Settings > Video

You'll have to step out of Quick Menu, which is the one you see when you bring up the UI whilst playing a game.
Well if there's a Settings option there... I don't see it. All I see is Quick Menu, Load Core, Load Content, Information, Restart, Configurations, Help, Quit. No video settings anywhere.

You're missing icons for the menu themes, so it's understandable that you don't know that you can push right to get to Settings

That looks like the old XMB menu from pre-1.4. Did you have a retroarch folder before installing version 1.4.x? if so, you might want to delete it and use a fresh one from the latest stable. I had that issue with my friend's 3ds, and that solved it.

He seems to be on 1.4.1, it says in the corner, and it's definitely the new XMB - but there are no icons.

Your recommendation is spot on about starting from a fresh retroarch folder.

Well shit, that explains why I couldn't find it! xD Thank you.

Duly noted! I didn't want to muck with much for fear of losing my saves, but I'll try what you said.

It works. It launches the last used core, so you can carry on playing where you left off. And maybe hide away all the cores in a folder.

If it doesn't work for you, something is wrong.
So I still have to have the cias for the other individual emulators installed? I don't get it.

The CIAs are the individual emulator apps. Each has the capability (core) of running games from a particular system.

However, the RetroArch one is a shortcut, with no direct emulation capability, just a menu system, that launches a specific CIA emulator app when you choose a game. It's mostly clever enough to figure out what system your ROM is for, if it can't quite decide it'll show you a few options and you have to pick a system.

I agree it could be clearer. I asked the same question when I upgraded to 1.4.x

I just keep saves on the root of the SD, never have to worry about the retroarch folder being deleted.

yes, however, this happened to my friend, where her retroarch was on 1.4.1, and since she had an old retroarch folder, the old menu showed up. I saw people pages back say to change the menu to XMB, and I tried that, which resulted in that menu seen there.

The Retro Launcher isn't working for me, but the individual cias (cores) work fine. I also noticed that I'm not the only person with this issue on libretro's forums.

So, question: has the PS1 emulator improved at least a little? I remember using it like a year ago on my N3DS, and most games worked, but not so well (bad sound and fps, you know). I know it can't be perfect, just asking.

That's not been much progress, but I find it works well enough with Clock+L2 on in Luma.

I rather enjoy a life of taking it easy. I haven't reached that life yet though.

Eventhough the New 3DS XL is more powerful, I still feel like the DS Lite was a more polished system. It's a real shame that it never got an XL variant keeping the GBA slot. You'd have to go on AliExpress and buy an ML shell to give a DS phat the unofficial "DS Lite" treatment, and that's the best we'll ever get I'm afraid.

The phat model had amazingly loud speakers tho.

@Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.

It's a DS Lite in a slightly bigger DS Lite shell.

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."
