I'm getting a wii and for Christmas I plan to play some retro games.
Any suggestions? Any awesome oldies for me to try out? Cause I haven't played a single retro game in my life except for super mario and donkey kong.

mmmm do you like shooters? not that shit fps that people play these days, I'm talking about shmups... you cant go more retro than that ;)

I can recommend you the entire Treasure library:
- Ikaruga (GameCube)
- Gunstar Heroes (Genesis) (tecnically, not an shmup, but you shoot things)
- Alien Soldier (Genesis)
- Sin & Punishment: Earth Successor (N64)
- Sin & Punishment: Star Successor (Wii) (not retro a game btw)

Also, you should play:
- Wild Guns (SNES)
just to name a few

And I think the gamecube is a bit too young to be called "retro". But even then...I may be wrong, but I think retro is more defined by technical limitations than by age (which means first-generation 3D stuff at best).
