Hi peeps,
My new 3ds XL got stolen and i did not write down the serial number, nintendo account also led to a dead end, now i did install a9 V2 when it came out and i was hoping i can retrieve the serial number from the nand.bin backups that i have. right now i only have the NAND.bin, i may have more files from the a9 upgrade back home (in a house in houston that is not yet flooded).

if you guys have any ideas on how to retrieve it please let me know!

Yeah I'm pretty sure the serial number won't help you in any aspect if the console was indeed stolen. You can't do anything with it.

in the emergency_SecureInfo_A file i found "QW10599827" which i believe is my serial number but the 9th number which is separate is not on there. ..

my 3ds did go online before but since ive switched user accounts so often on my nand i dont know if anything is still registered over at nintendo. ill give it a try, hope it blocks someone some day whose using a stolen 3ds. i would buy them a new one if i could just to get my baby back, that data on there is precious!

decrypt9 can show you your serial number

You could report it to the police as stolen but I doubt they'd track something of such little value (relatively speaking). Plus the sticker comes off so easily anyway, mine fell off just from use.

I highly doubt Nintendo would block online services from a 3DS reported as stolen anyway, so I agree with the above sentiment...knowing your serial number would probably not be helpful. I guess some homeowner's insurances cover theft that occurs off your property as well and they might require the serial number, but there's no way the deductible would be less than the cost of a new system.

thats nice! but since i dont have access to the 3ds anymore (stolen) and i only got old backups of the sd card, NAND and all the A9v2 procedure files i'm trying to make those useful. if decrypt would save it in any file by default then ill have access to it but i didnt find anythign like that yet.

ill nget refunded from my home owners insurance but loosing my save games is what made this a personal lost. my ps4 had the uncharted collectin beaten at the hardest level and my wife was doing the same to uncharted 4, didnt get to finish

9th number is a check digit. The algorithm is listed here: https://3dbrew.org/wiki/Serials#Console_Serial_Numbers

For QW10599827:
Odd digits: 1+5+9+2=17
Even digits: 0+9+8+7=24
((3*24) + 17) % 10 = 9; 10-9 = 1

9th digit should be '1'.

(You may want to verify the algorithm with another system just to make sure I didn't screw anything up here.)
