Hacking Retail eshop games using Gateway

Hello.
I have a question about play online games in a system that uses a gateway.

I know that you can play online using a retail card. But how about original games that was bought using eshop? I read a lot of tutorials, faqs and wikis, and I could not find this information.

I have the last gateway update (2.5), and I can use eshop since my emunad is on 9.2. So, at least in theory, I can use eshop and buy a game there... right? Would this game work online?

And I not talking about patched roms (3dz). I am talking about a retail game that I would download from eshop.

Yeah online works if its a game you bought.

Steel Diver subwars works for me and I downloaded it. (even though its free)

Do you use 'Gateway mode' or 'classic mode' to play it? I read that cards need to be in 'Classic mode'.

Downloaded eShop games can be played in Classic and Emunand mode without any issue.

Out of curiosity what game are you talking about anyway?

I cant really think of many eshop games with online multiplayer. Just steel diver and some quad bike game.

Oooooooh. Digital versions of retail games? As long as you have the patch if it requires one it should work online fine.

Though I have no idea why you would choose to buy digital if you can have a rom/classic mode cart boot
