PS1/2 Resolution Problems

Okay so I got my HDMI cable today and when I set the video options to Automatic it says my Max output is 1080p but when I go on manual and click only 1080p my TV says "Invalid Format".

I dunno how to tell what model my TV is either all I know is that its an LG bout 3 years old?

I dunno cuz I dunno my TV model besides its an LG been trying to find it all day, when its on automatic it says my max output is 1080p or does that mean the cable's max output is 1080p
