Greets,

I have a US Wii running v3.4 which was hacked by a friend of mine who no longer remembers what he did.
So I don't know what mods where made to the box.

Can I reload a stock firmware (say 4.0) and start over again?

Where can I get a stock firmware or can I just update the box online?

Or should I stick with what I have and update to 4.0?

TIA

Well try using Title Lister and it will create a .txt file in the SD, post the list here so we can know what do you have installed, what you need, and what you can delete...!!

Also, I found these files on my SD card. Assume they are for the hack.

WAD Manager 1.3
WAD Manager 1.3 IOS16
07-cIOS249-v7_waninkokoFULL-nw7.wad
IOS16-64-v257-prod.wad

Thanks for your help.

Okay, you've got cIOS Rev7. What you can do is update it to Rev10 or Rev13, then do an update to 4.0. But before that, use the HackMii installer to update the HBC and install BootMii.

Ok, so do I use Waninkoko's cIOS from his blog webpage (Custom IOS38 rev 13b)?
I'm confused with the 07-cIOS249-v7_waninkokoFULL-nw7.wad filename to what it actual is.

I ran HBC today and it asked me if I wanted to update to 1.0.3 so can I do that instead of using HackMii?

And I checked out BootMii, assume I should install that via HBC?

Any reason to uninstall any of the other "non-native" IOS?

Thanks for your help.

install Rev 13a as it is more stable

that just means that version is Rev 7

Yes you can install Bootmii via hackmii

Ok, I installed rev13a and Bootmii. Unfortunately, I must have a newer
Wii since I can't install it into boot2. Also, I can't controll Bootmii to backup my NAND.
The remote doesn't seem to work. Is there any other way to backup before I update
to 4.0?

And should I update to 4.0 via the Wii or using waninkoko's 4.0 updater?

Thanks again.

use the power/reset buttons on your wii to navigate bootmii menu, though there's not much point in making a nand backup as you need bootmii as boot2 to use it to restore a brick.
Use wanins updater but make sure you have at least 300 blocks free, or brick.

Many thanks to ether2802, FenrirWolf, WiiForgotten, and dogeggs for your help.

Upgrade went without a hitch!

You can use AnyTitleDeleter to delete on the GameSaves section:

Code:
12: Title=10000-00555045 (savedata for '.UPE') vers: 0.2 (2) FW: IOS4
13: Title=10000-00555045 (savedata for '.UPE') vers: 0.2 (2) FW: IOS4

altough they are going to come back untill you brickblock your .iso's
