Completely achievable. I believe all it'd take is for someone to create an open-source version of the H264 decoder that Nintendo details in the Cafe SDK, and then either a text-based or graphical interface for loading and playing files with it.

Hi all,
I have created now a html-file, which loads a link from a textfile (textfile.txt) and redirects to this link.

So you can browse with your mobile phone or pc e.g. to a video, copy URL into textfile.txt and load from the wiiu the wiiu-link-forwarder.html (hosted from smartphone or pc).

Tested with android and works fine for me.

I think mp4 can be handled in the browser if you set user agent to safari (please correct me if i am wrong). In this case you could stream it at least from a server / pc / mobile phone / whatever

MP4 can be handled with any user agent, but it's very picky in my experience. I know my collection of 1080p movies at a minimum bitrate of 3MBit/s refuse to play no matter what the conditions.
