I would really enjoy having a GBATemp app on my springboard.
Make it happen someone!
Please?
EDIT: If its easier can someone make a mobile site? I understand if its not possible, just thought I'd ask.

So, you're asking for the admins to buy a 1000$ + computer, pay 100$ for submitting it, pay another hundred or two for buying something that can run it, and somehow allocate time to actually develop it?
Yeah, smart idea.[/sarcasm]

Just to clarify, not being mean, just pointing out the logical fallacies in your idea.

Why the hell do you need that expensive of a computer for it?

Oh...
Well I was thinking that maybe someone on GBATemp is very smart and can build an app for both Android or iDevices.
@Kyouhei
Well that's not exactly an app plus safari is real shitty compared to Google Chrome.

Well, since it was suggested. One of the main problems in accessing Gbatemp through my smartphone is that the interface is not optimized for a smartphone screen and it's not optimized for touch.

I guess making an app like this is really hard and would have to be done by someone who knows how the site works.

Also, there are some costs for putting an app in both the Google Play or the App Store. This is not such a big problem with the Android, since it can run any apps you download, but one would have to have a jailbroke iPhone to access a Gbatemp app without using the App Store.

Developing for iPhone also requires that the developer have a Mac, since there is no way to develop for the iPhone using Windows/Linux/Solaris. On the other hand, devs can develop for Android using any OS they like including the Android.

In my opinion, Android is a more developer-friendly platform. But even then, there are costs in developing such an app. One solution could be publishing it in Google Play and gain from advertisement.

For whatever it's worth, developing a Cydia app is free. And there are probably a number of people on this forum who already have Apple Developer accounts.

Not that an app would be necessary or even very useful.

Well if making a cydia app is free, that would give me another reason to jailbreak. The main reason I would like a GBATemp app is because viewing the site on Chrome is tiny. Actually, if its easier, why not make a GBATemp mobile site?

They used to have one with IPB, don't know how well it would work out with Xenforo.

OP, could you please change the thread's title to "Request GBATemp iOS/Android Application"?

Also, if you have an iPhone, jailbrake can bring some nice features for your phone. Just be aware that a jailbrake can void your warranty, but then you can just un-jailbrake it if you need to use your warranty :P

Yeah I think I'm gonna jailbreak when they come out with untethered on iOS 6.0.1. And by OP are you talking to me? If so how do I edit the title?

'Cause that's about the starting price of a decent Mac. The development platform is OSX only and requires a registered apple product anyways (the TPM bypass patches used for VMs doesn't seem to register properly with them).

EDIT: Fixed.

OP = Original poster. Yes, it is you!

Erm, I was hoping you knew how to edit a post title... I don't know how to edit the title either

Rydian, I love you! How do you know so much about everything?

Come to think of it, didn't there used to be a GBATemp Cydia repo? Even so, if I recall correctly, it was just loaded up with themes.

An App? Why? You can just save a bookmark to your home screen, all you need to do then , is ask the GBATemp guys to add the relavent icon and manifest file, both very trivial to do.

Hmm, I thought the forums used Tapatalk? Or was that on IPB?
I could write an Android app if enough people paid me to do it :D (don't have a Mac or any iOS device, so no iOS version for you. :P)

Hmm, just tried using Tapatalk and couldn't get it to work, meaning the plugin likely isn't installed. But it would be nice if that were added.
