I got the ctraging CIA from the pastebin, but it won't start on my N3DS. Just takes me to a black screen when launching through DevMenu, doesn't matter if it's on SD or NAND. Is there any additional steps that have to be done? I thought that CIA was ready to go.

I have JDI too so watwas better JDI or SHARP?
I'd say the IPS (marked as JDI here) is better in terms of colour saturation, contrast, and viewing angles. But it is sometimes prone to having a scalene effect when you look at the screen as the console is being moved around.

In my case, I had to hold down the Start button as soon as the app was launched and kept it held down for around 10 seconds before the black screen entered the main test menu.
Holding START shows a menu!

That screenshot contains MAC addresses and serial numbers unique to your console, you might want to censor those...

Held it down for 20, still nothing on SD or NAND. :\

I haven't tried yet.

Also, here's an interesting tidbit under the debug menu:
The debug window outputs the LCD types. My model has an IPS upper display, could this be denoted as the 0x01 JDI type? Might be useful for identifying which models we have and diagnosing the scanline effect on some IPS units.
jdi and sharp is very famous japanese display company name.
sharp is the best.

You dont need to run it from the Dev-Menu you could start it normaly and hold the start button until the start-menu shows up (hold it BEFORE you start the app.....works for me).

My N3DSXL must be special. I got it to start up on a normal N3DS, but not my XL. The only thing I can think of is the amount of titles installed. The non XL barely has any, while the XL has several pages of apps/games.

i've over 100 titles installed on a NEW 3DS XL and it is working.

Just got home, installed ctraging and it works fine even when booting from the home menu. I'll try to do some things to get it to work on o3ds

Very little has been done to sysNAND on my sister's 2DS, maybe I should try and see if CTR Aging is still on there. I doubt it is, but you never know.

Which version of it do you have?
Did you make your own from your 3DS?
I'am using the one from pastebin.
I'm using the one from PabloMK7's pastebin, and I'm 99% sure ctraging is gone from both 3DSes, so I haven't even tried to extract it from my own. The N3DS says it's PRG version 5.62.

I've been messing around with this a bit, I've seen that there are different test modes.
  • Line - Factory related I assume
  • QC - No idea
  • Repair
  • SC - No idea
  • Subsidiary
  • Submit
  • Reserved1\2
  • Accept
  • Debug

There are tons of config options too, from volume adjustment settings (3d min/max, volume min/max) to process related stuff

Interesting that it works for some people and not for others. Could working and not working users check with FBI if the ticket for it is present?

Wait.... repair???? Maybe Nintendo installs ctraging in repaired consoles too!!! If that's true. People who have recently repaired his/her 3ds may be lucky :P

Hey, I have CTRAging in my O3ds 1.0 NAND (as far as I can see it in Hxd the data sectors look like the one in the OP so I know it hasn't been overwritten) but I am having the same problem as @Voxel Studios When trying to use FFF :T
