Seeing as TWEWY uses the same sound codec (.adx) as Phantasy Star Online, Jet Set Radio, JSRF, Crazy Taxi and other sega games, I decided to switch some of the tracks with ones from PSO, and they surprisingly played just fine.
Included:
Shop theme 1, 2, and 3 replaced with shop theme from pso.
Title replaced with pso title music

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UEGvNSafMlA

I also put in the gol dragon, vol opt, and ending (Can Still See The Light)themes, but I haven't unlocked the sound records in game and I didn't bother trying for them in a battle, so I couldn't test those.

EDIT:lulz, I just realized the DS speakers aren't COMPLETE shit - the audio tracks are just encoded at low quality to save space on the cart. Duh!

EDIT EDIT:omg think of the possibilities: NiGHTS, F-Zero GX, biohazard, megaman x8/command mission, okami, sonic adventure, shadow the hedgehog, tales of symphonia, lots more xP
all those use .adx

EDIT EDIT EDIT: just realized, this is old news. woops >.< oh well.

There are some dreamcast related tools that let you convert to and from ADX format so you could replace the music with anything. I can't remember where to get the stuff, but I used something called ADXtools to replace the awful music in Marvel Vs Capcom 2.

I have a file called adxencd.exe and I managed to rip the CD of the TWEWTY soundtrack and convert the WAVs to ADX files which I can then swap into the rom using Nitro Explorer.

What I want to ask is what tool can I use to play TWEWTY's ADX files without converting them so I can test more efficiently.

Also anyone got any info on the DS soundcard/speakers as when I encode the ADX files I want to put proper frequency cuttoffs so they don't sound like junk in the game.

in_cube crashes my Winamp. I did however find a plugin called in_vgmstream which is doing the job nicely and seems to support a lot of formats. Its still in active development so its worth a look.

That's really cool!

However. Changing this game's music is a crime, IMO!

My plan was to try to replace the DS music with the versions from the CD soundtrack. Sure the final will be closer to 250MB but maybe it might sound better. Its a test of sorts.

yes, I have similar tools which I used to insert music into pso. also deathborn's theme from f-zero GX over the final boss theme is just kickass

Please replace the music with ANYTHING, even SILENCE - it's bloody awful.

Some of the worst 'music' I have ever heard. Truly dire.

i didn't find it that bad...

I guess because they are original songs rather than 'game' music, I'm comparing them with other original songs not necessarily in games... and they don't compare well!. Highly irritating and some of the 'rapping' is a joke.

Some Programs that you're going to need

DKZ Studio It's in spanish, i know
DSBuff

By the way DKZ studio ha a built in .adx player

1. Unpack the Read Only Memory to a [name] folder
2. Inside the data folder, it contains several adx files, mentioned above in the spoilers
3. Now get your fave music, and convert it to .WAV
4. Get the converted wav file and run the "ADX-WAV Conversor" (Note: just type "adx" vista or 7's search bar, coz i have no time to look for it XD)
5. now on the first bar, browse for the directory which contains your WAV file
EDIT: Make sure that the drop down list box displays "WAV->ADX"
6. On the second bar, input the destination folder of the file when after it completes conversion.
ANOTHER EDIT: check the "Guardar ADX con loop completo de principio a fin" to make the music loop NOT Recommended for Cutscenes that is not controllable.
7. rename the converted adx file to whatever music u want it to replace. (Rename it to "Title" if you are just testing it if it works)
ALMOST FORGOT: Replace the Files inside the Twewy rom, with the adx files you created.
8. Now repack the folder of the unpacked rom. Then run it on no$gba or your Shinecart.

T_T Its a pain in the ass. whatever... Anything i'd miss?

EDIT: Now this is what you call fattening a game up

I loved TWEWY so much I can't just take all those songs and throw them away.

It's like part of my memories, you know?
