Hacking ROM Hack replacing sequence files with streamed music?

I want to make a rom hack for Dragon Quest IX that replaces the midi-sequenced music with the original orchestrated music. How can I make it so that it would play my custom-converted mp3 files to a streamed music file the DS could read? and replace those sequenced files with the streamed ones.
