What I have expected, it's happend...
There is too many differences between Scrubbed version and the no-scrubbed 001 fixed version (the pff patch size is about 2,5go...)
So the full iso is needed, sorry...
It would be possible to fix the 001 error for the game but not for the MKWii channel of the scrubbed version.

@Whats85
Try this patch: Mkwii3.ppf (only for the scrubbed iso)
I doubt it will works, but why not ^^
I am burning the scrubbed iso (and patched with this ppf).
I keep you informed, but i can't test if the Mkwii channel install work because i have already it

EDIT Doesn't work at all, that's why I have deleted the download link to avoid wasting DVD

JinVa, thanks a lot for your efforts! It's amazing it's our own kind who can figure such things out. Vive la France!

Sorry for bad engrish, I am the frenchie's cousin.

I got a US Wii and a WiiFree not updated to YAOSM 3.0 which means I need to get rid of the 001 error.

Here's my problem(s) and ways how to do it: (note that I used the latest version of these programs mentionned below)

First problem:

1. Patched the game (virgin!) with Mkwii1.ppf
2. Used WiiBrickBlocker
3. Used RegionFrii to change PAL to NTSC (It always says: Patched, gamecode mismatch — which is normal, I suppose)
4. Burned with imgburn at 8x, using verbatim dvd-r 16x CCM03 first quality. I also did the same with Nero. I am not newbie with those things. I also tried with x2 and x4 speeds.

Result: When I put the dvd in my wii, it loads then after 5-10 seconds it says there is an error and I must close the wii. Refer to the manual operation.

Second problem:

1. Patched the game (virgin, again) with Mkwii2.ppf
2. Used WiiBrickBlocker
3. Used RegionFrii to change PAL to NTSC (Patched, gamecode mismatch)
4. Burned as mentionned above.

Result: Same problem again. Whenever I put the game in my Wii, 5-10 seconds later it'll be a black screen saying there's an error and I must close the Wii etc.. I did not even choose the ''Game Channel'' where the ''Start'' is.

I also tried with wiiUR-1.0 which removed the update (the channel, third partition). Then Tried to apply WiiFrii_2.3b but it was not able to do PAL to NTSC! Someone mentionned here on page 5 at the end that he was able to and that's why I tried it. It's unable to change it when patched because there's a partition missing. So after using update removed, I used RegionFrii which worked and then burned and same problem again.

If I burn the game with only having done RegionFrii and WiiBrickBlocker, I won't get the black screen with the error mentionned before. Note that it's NOT the 001 error! But the one written above. By doing it that way, my Wii is actually loading the game and I can see MKwii in the game channel with the ''Start'' button. Once I press it, now I get the 001 error.

To US/NA non-updated Wiifree users, just how did you manage to get it to work! >

What kind of DVD have you used ?
Try to patch the original iso with Mkwii2.ppf, and burn it.
I have a Wiifree too, so the problem isn't with the modchip

how did you manage to use wiifrii? i'm getting this error when i try to convert from PAL to NTSC-U

Select option: e

[ Patching from PAL to NTSC-U... ]

@@ Reading "main.dol" from partition 1...
ERROR: Couldn't read "main.dol"! (missing "common-key"?)

[ ISO patching failed! ]

@@ Press any key to continue...

I used the wiiscrubber to extract the file but still gives me that error. Can someone give me some tips on how to get this working?

Thanks,

UPDATE: never mind.. just needed the key.bin to be in the same directory as the exe.

UPDATE 2: just finished burning and it works! thanks guys for all your hard work!

does the PPF work for US systems?

This is what I did.

1. Downloaded the PPF and applied it the mkwii.iso
2. Went here and got all his tools. http://wii.waninkoko.info/
3. Used Wii Update Remover v1.0 to remove update.
4. Used WiiFrii v2.3b to make NTSC compatible.
5. Burned with Nero 6.3 at 8x on Maxell DVD-R with Pioneer 112D
6. Played Mario Kart Wii on my Wiinja v1!!!

It did not work and I did the same thing. Weird he was able to make it weird when we are not :|

Edit after yours: I'll try it as well and hope it'll work.

I am burning right now after doing this:

First test is:

1. Applied PPF1
2. Removed update with wiiUR
3. Changed to NTSC with WiiFrii
4. Burning

Will edit for results, 15 mins waiting.

If it does not work, I'll try with applying PPF2.

I don't care about the MK channel >

tried this, and now it don't give me the Error 0001 anymore buuuut it just sits at the screen where you have to make sure you got enough room and you have your strap attached. Just sits there any one know why?

NTSC-U WIIFrii mod burned at 4x speed. Imageburn and Vista 32bit.

anyone got any ideas why it just sticks there?
If you US Wii is update, try to patch the original Mario Kart Wii iso with the PPF and burn it (without Wiifrii patch or other tools)*
Keep me informed

I tried burning it with Just the ppf patch applied. Only stays on the screen where your told to attach the strap and the nunchuck....Used imgburn at 4x.

Alright, I'm an NTSC-U with YAOSM 2.0. I got the first Wii Shop update that didn't have IOS37 in it. If I get the scene release, apply the second PPF, run RiigionFree and then run Brickblocker, should the disc work without the 001 error?

hi, JinVa, thank you for your hard work.

Should I apply 2 patches (mkwii.ppf & mkwii2.ppf) you released on MKW ISO, or only apply the second one(mkwii2.ppf) ?

I didn't try this but it should work.

1. Open ISO with an hex editor (WinHex).
2. Go to the offset 0x40003 and change the byte from "03" to "02".
3. Save and now you should be able to open the ISO with Trucha.
4. To restore the third partition. just revert step 2.

I can't find offset 0x40003. How do you do that ?

Add the second one.

You just need to apply mkwii2.ppf, I Did and it worked fine!

In UltraEdit, just hit Ctrl+G and then type 0x40003 in the box. It will take you right to the line.

HI, I have some problems with the mario kart.

I burn it 3 times and so far none work.

First: Burn with clone dvd: after select 1 player, message on the screen: the wii cannot read the disk....

Second: Burn with Nero: Error 001

Third: I patched the iso, then burn with nero, and then nothing the disc is not read at all by the wii...

Remarks: It never asked to update in 3.2E

I have a Wii3.1E and wiikey 1.9g., smash bros works well on it even if i didnt have to update the wii for it.

Please help me, I want to play it, I wan to play it
