Hacking [RELEASE] X-PROJECT 5.05 SELF HOST

Anyone else got a poor boot rate with this or any of these really, games wise, for instance Fifa 18 and Worms WMD, either don't load past the initial screen or get to the main menu or before and crash, can't press ps button to goto xmb, have to hold it and quit the app, completely random too whether it will get so far into booting.

@TheCarlough if you don’t want to use the configs or apps in the USB PC apps folder, just delete it, it’s not required to get X-Project running.

The apps within, for example trainer, is needed on pc to connect to the PS4Trainer payload in order to mod games. If you don’t want to use it, or any of those bits, simply delete the USB PC APPS folder.

Finally found time to try get D-Pad navigation working:

Good news: it was a lot easier than anticipated. It works!

Bad news: it’s far from perfect.

I still can’t get rid of lodash without it breaking... yet.

Made a media player, fleshed it out, just need to make it a bit less specific file-wise, but every avenue I try leads to error codes due to the heavily locked down web browser.

As some of you may know I’m making a media player for the PS4 browser, I need (viable) suggestions for any features you might like to see. I have the basics and today:

Features:
+ Drop Down File Selector.
+ Plays MP4 currently (need to work on more formats)
+ Play, Pause, Stop, Skip, Restart
+ Full screen + 2 preset resolutions to suit your TV.
+ Dark mode toggle, Mute toggle,
+ Playback info (file location, name, time remaining/total time etc)
+ Companion BAT Script for easy playlist generation.
+ Just host your MP4 files from /MEDIA/ folder within xproject (easy to customize to share files from elsewhere depending on your host method).

Note: "Import" button is just for debugging, its not useful to end user.

First thing I tried was VTT as it was recommended over SRT for the web standard compatibility: but the browser didn’t support them

I will definitely look into it again, I feel like I probably don’t fully understand the implementation so I think I can fix it.

EDIT: tested again with a variety of types and methods and cannot get anything to display, probably due to outdated webkit/web browser on PS4 5.05.

As with all PS4 media types, its finicky but if you get properly suited MP4's they work great (Supported file formats | PlayStation®4 User's Guide)

The basis is there, but I can see scope for: loop/auto-play-next/alphabetising/vr output(?)/music/visualiser/and more!

EDIT: ok so subs/CC tracks and any format except MP4 doesnt work, I downloaded 20 sample vids for each format and only mp4 worked

Converted a random JS NES emulator to run self contained in x-project.... it starts and runs at a whopping 5fps....

I need to figure out something better....

Between Leeful and Myself we have got it now: it works!

To make it work for any host, just change:
echo # V1.4 X-PROJECT
to
echo #<YOUR PROJECT NAME HERE>
and

> <WHATEVER YOUR CACHE FILE NEEDS TO BE CALLED>
and it avoids caching the media folder.
